In the name of god Amen the nynthe daie of December Ao Dni .1573. I John Sell of moche Hadham in the Countie of Hertf. yeoman beynge sicke in bodie neverthelesse of good and perfect remembraunce Lawde and prayse be unto Almightie god, do constitute ordayne and make this my p'nte Testament conteyninge in yt my last will in manner and forme followinge, that is to saie first and before all other thinges I commende my soule into the handes of Almightie god my maker redeemer and onely savioure and my body to be buried in the parishe Church yarde of moche Hadham aforesaid. Item I geve will and bequeathe to John Sell the sonne of Symon Sell Late of Great Monden in the said Countie Hertf. deceased all those of my landes te'ntes medowes and pastures bothe fre and copie wth all and singler thappurtenances whatsoever set lyinge and beynge in the parishes of lytle Hadham and moche Hadham. To have and to holde all the said landes te'ntes and all other the premisses wth all and singler thappurtenances to the said John Sell the sonne of Symon Sell and to his heires for ever. Item I geve to Joan Mannynge my sister xxs and my best gowne. Itm I geve to Agnis Thorne sister to the said John Sell the sonne of Symon xiijs iiijd. Item I geve to Elizabeth Sell one other sister to the same John vj li siijs iiijd to be pd unto her wthin thre monethes next after my decease. Itm I geve unto everie one of the Children of William Sell of Great Monden wch are nowe at the makynge hereof alyve vjs viijd Item I geve to Elizabeth Hampton Katerin Hampton and Tabitha Hampton my Late wief her daughters to everie one of them xls to be paid to them wthin two yeres next after my decease. Item I geve to Edward Osborne the sonne of William Osborne of Thorley xls to be pd wthin one yere next after my decease. Item I geve to George Parnell & John Parnell the sonnes of George Parnell of moche Hadham to eyther of them iijs iiijd. Itm I geve to the pore people of moche Hadham xxs. And to the pore people of Lytle Hadham other xxs. The residewe of all and singler my goods Corne Chattells Leases moveables and Inmoveables whatsoever not heretofore in this my present will geven or bequethed I wholly geve them to the foresaid John Sell the sonne of Symon Sell whom I ordayne and make my faithfull and sole executor of this my p'nte Testament payinge my debtes and Legacies. And I constitute and appoynte Thomas Brett my overseer to loke so to And call upon that this my will be in all thinges fulfilled and performed accordynge to the trewe meanynge hereof And I geve to hym for his paynes in that behalf viiijs iiijd. Itm the said John Sell Testator wthin written further gave willed and bequeathed divers and sundre sommes of money vpon the xxiijth daie of Aprill next after the date wthin written as followethe.
First the said John Sell gave to Elizabethe Sell in his will mencioned, xxti markes of lawfull money.
