1559 Philip Smith witnessed the will of John Kyrspe, carpenter of Erwarton, on October 1. [2]

1560 Richard Smith, son of Phillip Smith, was baptized on September 15 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [3]

1561/62 Margaret Smith, daughter of Phillip Smith, was baptized on February 23 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [4]

1562/62 John Smith, son of Phillip Smith, was baptized on March 7 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [5]

1564 Judith Smith, daughter of Phillip Smith, was baptized on March 25 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [6]

1565 Philip Smith, son of Phillip Smitth, was baptized on April 1 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [7]

c1566 Dorothy Smith was likely born about 1566 as Phillip Smith, in his will, named her after Judith among his daughters.

1567 Johane Waller of Erwarton, in her will dated December 25, requested as overseer "my frende and neighbore Phillippe Smythe whome I desyre to be a guyde unto my daughters." [8]

1567/68 Gabriel Smith, son of Phillip Smithe, was baprized on February 20 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [9]

1568 Philippe Smythe of Arwarton, Samford Hundred, Suffolk, was taxed 5s. 10d. on £7 in goodes in the 1568 subsidy, the only Smith/Smythe in the list of seven parishioners.

1571/72 Margery Smith, daughter of Phillip Smith, was bapitized on January 4 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [13]

1572/73 Katherine Smith, daughter of Phillip Smith, was bapitized on March 13 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [14]

1575 James Smith, son of Philp and Joane Smith, was baptized on April 7 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [15]

1576 Bartholomew Smith, son of Philip Smith, was bapitized on May 20 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [16]

1577/58 Joane Smith, daughter of Philip, was baptized on January 6 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [17]

1585 Joan, wife of Philip Smith, was buried on July 28 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [18]

1587/88 John Smith, son of Philip and Katherine Smith, was born on March 13 and baptized on March 20 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [19]

1587/88 Philip Smith wrote his will on March 22. Hyde's abstract states, [20]

… of Erwarton … yeoman of the age of fyve and fiftie yeares or thereabouts … unto Philippe Smyth my eldest sonne now lyving according to the … laste will and Testament of John Smyth my Father deceased all that my Capitall messuage or Tenement wherein I doe now dwell in Erwarton … called … Brownes … and all … the howses Edifices buildings barnes stables yards ortyards and gardens thereunto belonging … [and several other named properties including] one Messuage or Ten'te called Sparhaukes … [with] Medowes Marshes Pasturs and other … appurten'nces … unto James Smith my second sonne now living … [several named properties] … the residue of all … my … Lands … not before … bequeathed unto the sayde Phillip or James my sonnes I doe … gyve … unto Katherine … my wiefe … untill such tyme as John Smythe my yongest sonne an infante shall accomplisshe and come unto his full age of two and twentie years (yf the saide John shall so longe lyve) to the intente that my said wief with the issewes and p'fitts thereof shall bringe up the saide John her sonne in goode and vertuous educac'on and learning durringe his said nonage … And when the said John my sonne shall … come unto his said age of xxij years … I doe … give … unto hym … one mesuage … called Marlers … [and additional properties] … concerni'ge the dispo'con of … goods chattells plate redie monie ymplements and stuff of howsehold, corn cattell, haye and all other moveables … Fyrste I give … unot the said Katherine my wief all such apparell and other things as shall properlie serve and belonge to and for her prop're use … And … unto the said Philippe my sonne the two longe Tables in the p'lor of my said Capitall mesuage together with the Benches formes stoles Seatings wayskotts stained Clooths and glasse in the same two p'lors and eyther of them the Brewing leade and all suche other ymplements and moveables as shall be then fixed or naylefast unto anye p't of my saide Capitall mesuage uppon condic'on that he the saide Phillippe shall permitte and suffer the saide Katherine my wief to remayne and have her dwellinge in ye one half of my sayde Captitall mesuage to her owne severall & p'per use, and the co'veniente and necessarie use of the yards and gardens, and also sufficiente fewell and fyrewoode … unto the saide katherine my wief the some of One hundred pownds … And I doe also most earnestly request … that my saide son'e James maye be kept at Schole and learninge mete for his degree and Capacitie suche tyme as he shalbe Seventene years old And that after suche tyme as he shall be of that age he may be carefullie placed with some good Maister and have fortie shillings yearlie allowance … unto Judith my Dawghter nowe wief of Henrie Smythe of Stutton the some of thirtie pownds … unto my two Dawghters Dorothie Smithe and Marie Smithe the like several somes of thirtie pownds a peece … unto my yongest Dawghters Margerie Smythe Katherine Smythe, and Joane Smythe the like severall porc'ons of thirtie pownds a pece … to be payed unto everie of them as they shall addomplishe … their severall ages of Twentie years … alsoe twentie shillings a peece yearlie … for their better maynten'nce in apparell and service untill … they shall receive … their … thirtie pownds a peece … And I do also most frendlie desier my Executors that all my Evidencs and writings maye be safelie kepte and delyvered to my said sonnes at such tymes as they shall severallie enter their said p'ts of my lands and tene'nts to them herbye devised … my said wief, my said sonne Phillip, and the said Henry Smythe my sonne in Lawe Executors … and Laurance[?] Caston[?] gent Sup'visor in the some of fowere hundred pownds for the trewe p'formance of this my last will & testam't …

1589/90 Phillip Smith was buried on March 23 in Erwarton, Suffolk. [21]

1590 The will of Phillip Smith was proved on March 25 in the Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk. [22]

1591 The will of Phillip Smith was proved again on November 13 in the Consistory Court of Norwich. [23]
