If the Hierome buried in 1617 was the same man who married Marian Childe, then he is not the same man as the Hierome Quatermaine, below, who married Marie Marshall, as it appears that she married her second husband John Bradford in 1602/03.

1588 A "Hierome Quatermaine & Marie Marshall" were "maried the xxjth of October 1588" in Blewbury, Berkshire. [9]

George W. Marshall, in a pedigree of the Marshall family, states that Mary Marshall, daughter of Thomas Marshall of Littlebury, co. Essex, married "at Blewbury 21 Oct. 1558 [sic] to Hierome Quartermaine." [10] He also states that she is mentioned in the 1596 will of her brother Thomas "To Mary Quartermaine £200" [11] and that she married "2ndly John Bradford, Clerk." [12]

1596/97 Thomas Marshall's nuncupative will was dated February 11 and proved on February 23, with administration granted to Thomas' brother, John Marshall of Blewbury in the county of Berkshire. The probate copy of the will states, [13]

1620 In his will dated December 13, Richard Quatermayne makes bequests to several Quatermayne siblings (Chrystopher, Thomas, Mary, and John), to Bradford siblings-in-law (Thomas, Dorothie, and Martha), to his mother Mary Bradford, and to a daughter-in-law and sons-in-law (Margaret Pawline, Henry White, and John White, perhaps children of his wife). He does not mention any of the children of Heirome Quatermaine and Marian Childe. Richard names his wife Mary as executrix and makes her his residual legatee. The will was proved on February 1, 1620/21. [15]
