Notes for Charles English and Sophia Weigle

1860 Jonas and Christina Weigle lived in Franklin Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Jonas (age 16), Sophia (age 19), William (age 10), and John (is this Franklin?, age 8). [1] [2]

1870 Jonas Weigle and Christina (both age 61) lived in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with daughter Sophia (age 28). [3] [4]

1880 Sophia Weigle (age 35) was single and lived with her father on Eleventh or Commerce St, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. [5] [6]

1880 Charles English (age 52) lived in Sidney Twp, Shelby County, Ohio with his mother Matilda (age 75). Charles was born in Ohio and his father was born in England and his mother in Ohio. The family of Charles' brother James English, age 35, lived in Clinton Twp in the same county. [7]

1887 Sophia Weigel and Charles English were married on June 8, in Shelby County, Ohio. Shelby County is adjacent to Darke County. [8] [9]

1900 Charles Henery (sic English) born Jan 1825 (age 75) and Sophia born Jan 1842 (age 58) had been married 13 years and lived on Grove St in Sidney Twp, Shelby County, Ohio. Charles was born in Ohio and his father was born in England. Sophia had had no children. This is a good match for Charles and Sophia, except for the last name. [10] [11]

1901 (or 1900) Charles English died on January 27, at age 78 and was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Lot 110-3, Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio. [12] [13] [14]

1907 Sister Sarah Brenizer died and Mrs. S. English, and Sarah's children, posted a newspaper notice thanking friends for sympathy of Sarah Brenizer. [16]

1910 Sophia English (age 65 or 68) was a widowed aunt living in the household of Clara Brenizer Wolfe, Sophia's niece through Sarah Ann Weigle. They lived in Gainesville, Florida. [17]

1920 Sophia English (age 77) lived in Marion Twp, Grant County, Indiana in the household of her niece Gertrude (daughter of Jonas's son Jonas) and William C Lindsey. [19] [20]

1923 Sophia English, widow, died on April 3, at age 81 in Marion Twp, Grant County, Indiana. She was born on January 10, 1842 in Pennsylvania, daughter of Jonas Weigel and Weigel . [21]

1923 Sophia E English died on April 3 and was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Lot 110-3, Shelby County, Ohio. [22] [23]
