1856 Theodore Lemmerts (age 26) emigrated from Germany to the United States, arriving on the ship Rising Sun from Le Havre, France, on August 8. [1] [2]

1863 Theodore "Lemmery" of 74 8th Avenue was taxed in New York District 6. He was taxed $6.67 as a retail dealer. [3]

1864 Theodore Lemmerz was naturalized on October 21 in the Superior Court of the City of New York. [4]

1865 In July, Theodore "Lemmery" was taxed in New York District 6. His address was 74 8th Avenue. He was taxed 5% on income of $400 ($20.00) and $1.00 for a watch. [5]

1870 On December 31, Theodore (age 40) and Frederica (age 31) Lemmerz lived on 8th Avenue in New York Ward 9 District 20, New York, New York, with their children Minnie (age 7) and Henry (age 5). Theodore was a confectioner. He was born in Prussia and Frederica was born in Mechlenburg. The children were born in New York. [6]

1880 On June 17, Theodore (age 49) and Frederica (age 40) Lemmerz lived at 642 Nemack Avenue in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, with their children Wilhelmina (age 16), Henry L. (age 14), and Theodore (age 10). Theodore was a saloon keeper. Theodore and his parents were born in Prussia. Frederica and her parents were born in Mechlenburg. The children were born in New York. Also listed in the household were John F. Hartig (age 71) and Christiana Hartig (age 62), father-in-law and mother. John and Christiana and their parents were born in Mechlenberg. John had died on May 30. John was listed as married and Christiana as a widow. [7]

1895 Theodore Lemmerz applied for a U.S. passport on May 7 to visit Europe for four months. His occupation was wine merchant. [8]

1900 On June 18, Theodore Lemmerz (age 69, born October 1830) lived as a boarder at 167 Magnolia Avenue in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. He was a widower. He and his parents were born in Germany. His occupation was wine merchant. He immigrated in 1856 and was a naturalized citizen. [9]

1905 On June 12, Theodore Lemmerz (age 74, born November 1830) lived as a boarder at 39 Van Reiper Avenue in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. He was a widower. He and his parents were born in Germany. He had lived in the United States for 50 years and was a naturalized citizen. His occupation was wine dealer. [10]
