1591 John Lockhart of Boghall made an agreement with James Crawford on July 16. [1]

Apud burgum de Air die xxvjo mensis Julij anno Domini jm vc lxxxxjo--in presens of Adam Johnestoun, baillie.
The quhilk day, comperit John Lokhert of Boghall, burges of the said burgh, on the ane pairt, and James Craufurd, the uther baillie thairof, on the uthir pairt, and actit thame to utheris as followis: to wit, gif it sal happin the said Johnne to obtene Decreit of Reductioun befoir the Lordis of Counsall, reducand in effect the Decreit of Removing gevin aganis him in the Burrow Court of Air, haldin the xix day of Junij last bipast, decerning him, and Agnes Hunter his subtennent, to remove fra the cobill fisching upoun the Wattir of Air, possessit be thame, at the instance of the Provest, Baillies, Counsall and communitie of the said burgh, and that within the space of ane yeir and ane half nixt and immediatlie following the feist of Michelmes nixt to cum, than in that cais the said James Browne actit to pay to the said Johnne the sowme of ane hundreth pundis money of this realme, within xl dayis nixt eftir the obtening of the sid decreit of recuctioun, but forther delay : And gif it sal happin the said Johnne nocht to obtain ye said decreit of reductioun within the space foirsaid, in that cais the said Johnne actit him to content and pay to the said James the sowme of ane hundreth pundis money foirsaid, within xl dayis nixt eftir the outruning of the said space of an ane yeir and ane half abonewrittin, but forther delay; oblissand thame, thair airis executouris and assignayis thairto respective, ilk ane to utheris, etc.
