The catalog of the Combremont-le-Grand archives lists a set of "Actes anciens. Signé: Isaac Berchier, Johannes Ballifz, Abram Bettex, notaires avec paraphe (1612). [2]
An Abraham Bettex [3] had a series of children baptized in Combremont starting in 1633. The 10-year gap and the mention of Margueritte as the widow of Abraham Bettex when she was a witness in a baptism record in 1631 is consistent with a hypotheses that Abraham, father of Claude Bettex, died by 1631, and that the man who had children starting in 1633 was a different man. There is, however, a gap in the parish register from 21 December 1623 go 3 April 1625.
1626 "Madeleine fille d'Abraham Bettex" was a sponsor at the baptism of "Madeleine fille de Pierre fils de Francois Bettex" in Combremont between January 15 and February 5.
1628 "Abraham Bettex le fabure(?)" was a sponsor at the baptism "ce 11 iour de Mai" of "Anne fille de Pierre fils d'André Bettex de Combremont le petit." [4]
1629 "Pierre fils de feu Abraham Bettex" was a sponsor at the baptism "ce 15 de Mars" of "David fils de Aimez Bettex de Combremont le petit." [5]
1629 "Andrez Bettex fils d'Abraham" was a sponsor at the baptism "24 Avril" of "Jaques fils de Jehan du Villard de Combremont le petit." [6]
1631 "Margueritte relicte d'Abraham Bettey" was a sponsor at the baptism of "Marie fille d'Andrey Tappi" on "le 9 Juin" in Combremont-le-Grand. [7] [8]
