Daniel Mohler was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, January 18, 1834, to Allen and Elizabeth Kurtz Mohler. In 1852 the family moved by wagon to Carroll County, Indiana. In 1870 Brother Mohler came to Piatt County, Illinois, and in February 1872 married Sarah Catherine Wise, who died March 20, 1896. There were eleven children. He was baptized in 1867, elected to the ministry March 10, 1881, and later ordained as an elder. He died at Cerro Gordo, Illinois, January 3, 1917.

1911 Herbert W Mohler, son of Daniel Mohler and Kate Wise, married Estella Crosswhite on December 21, 1911 at Carroll, Indiana. [13]
1917 Rev Daniel Mohler died on January 3 and was buried at LaPlace Cemetery, LaPlace, Piatt County, Illinois. Rev Daniel Mohler was born on January 1, 1834. [14] [15]
CERRO GORDO Jan 5--Elder Daniel Mohler died Wednesday in the home of his son, Herbert Mohler, in this city. He was nearly 83 years old and had seen many years in the service of the Church of the Brethren of which he was a minister. His health had been poor for some time but he retained his faculties until the last.
Funeral services will be conducted by Elders A.L.Bingaman and S.Heitz Friday morning at 10 oclock in the Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in the La Place cemetery. Decatur Herald 1/6/1917

Research Notes:
We suspect, based on shared DNA matches, that Catherine Wise is a descendant of a common Wise ancestor of Robert. We seek further evidence to clarify this hypothesis.
Based on shared DNA matches, we suspect that this Catharine Wise, spouse of Daniel Mohler, is the same person as Catherine Wise, daughter of John Wise and Catherine Wise. [30]
