1823 John D Hartshorn, son of James and Sarah Hartshorn, was born on June 13 in Hamilton County, Ohio. [1] [2] [3]

1824 Elizabeth Schooley, daughter of Benjamin and Ann K. Schooley, was born on 9 month, 29 day. [4] [5] [6] [7]

1831 Benjamin and Ann Schooley with minors Sarah, Samuel I, James R, Rebecca Ann, Elizabeth, and Mary Schooley were listed as belonging to the Chesterfield meeting, in month 1. [8]

1837 Benjamin Schooley, Ann K Schooley and 9 minor children (Samuel I, James K, Sarah C, Rebecca Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Catharine Matilda, Benjamin, and Robert H Schooley) transferred from Chesterfield meeting, New Jersey, to Cincinnati, Ohio [date 1837,4,4]. [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

1847 John D. Hartshorn and Elizabeth H. Schooley were married on November 4 in Hamilton County, Ohio. [14] [15] [16] [17]

1848 Elizabeth Schooley Hartshorn was reported married (con mcd, contrary to Quaker discipline) on December 21 to John D Hartshorn. [18] [19]

1850 Elizabeth Harthurn (age 25, born in New Jersey) lived in Cincinnati Ward 2, Hamilton County, Ohio, in a household with John Harthurn (age 27), James Hartshorn (age 52), Sarah Harthurn (age 46), and others. [20][21]

1849-50 Son Oscar was born and died before age 1.

1855 Asahel Page sold land to MC Page and John Hartshorn on August 5, 1855 [22].

1858 Daughter Lella Lizzie was born.

1862-63 Son John Wesley was born and died of scarlet fever before age 2 and was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery.

1862 John D Hartshorn lived at 89 Barr in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a paper carrier. [23]

1863 Daughter Lella Lizzie died of scarlet fever at age 4 in Moscow, Clermont County, Ohio and was buried at Wesleyan Cemetery, Cumminsville and then at Spring Grove Cemetery. [24]

1868 J D Hartshorn was the administrator of father-in-law Benjamin Schooley's estate in Darke County, Ohio.

1870 Elizabeth Hartshorn (age 45, born in New Jersey) lived in Cincinnati Ward 15, Hamilton County, Ohio, in a household with Jno R Hartshorn (age 47), Alice Hartshorn (age 19), Arili Hartshorn (age 3), and Julia Davis (age 19). [25] [26]

1871 John D Hartshorn lived at 95 Laurel in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a paper carrier. [27]

1880 John D. Harthorn (age 56, born in Ohio, married) lived in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, in a household with Elizabeth Harthorn (age 55), and Renna Harthorn (age 13). John D. Harthorn's parents were both born in Ohio. John D. Harthorn's occupation was paper carrier. [29] [30]

1882-83 John D Hartshorn lived at Observatory Av opposite tollgate, Mt Lookout, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a paper carrier. [31]

1885-86 and 86-87 and 87-88 John D Hartshorn was listed with home at 104 west 8th in Cincinnati as collector in the William's Cincinnati Directory. [32]

1890-91 John D Hartshorn was listed at 92 west 9th in Cincinnati as collector in the Cincinnati Directory. [33]

1893 Elizabeth H Hartshorne died at age 68 on 11 July 1893 of congestion of the lungs at 92 West 9th St, Cincinnati, Ohio and was buried at Spring Grove cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in NJ to Schooley. [34] [35] [36] [37] [38]

1894 JD Hartshorn was listed with home at flat 5, n.w.c. 9th and Race in Cincinnati in the William's Cincinnati Directory. [39]

1898 John D Hartshorn dated his will on October 19. The will gave to granddaughter Mary Clark, daughter of daughter Mary Alice Clark wife of Harry T Clark, the portraits of Benjamin Schooley and wife Ann Schooley, great grandparents of Mary Clark. The will named daughter Areli Schooley Eiseman, wife of Gilbert M Eiseman. Presented to the court in Cincinnati on May 1, 1899. [40]

1899 John D Hartshorn died at age 76 on 10 March 1899 of heart failure at Norwood, Ohio. The burial at Spring Grove, Cincinnati, Ohio was ordered by Harry F Clark and he was buried in a lot owned by Leary and Hartshorn. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. [41] [42] [43]

Research Notes:

Areli Schooley Hartshorn (1867-1927) was named as a daughter of John D. Hartshorn (1823-1899) and Elizabeth Schooley (1824-1893) in an application to Sons of the American Revolution. The ancestry continued through Benjamin Schooley (1789-1867) and Ann K. Ivins (1791-1868), Joseph Schooley (1760-1846) [error: should be James Schooley], and Benjamin Schooley (1733-1807). Benjamin Schooley accrued interest on Continental Bills of Credit. [44] [45]
