1316 On November 28, John de Knoville granted land. [1]

John de Knouill, knight, granted to John de Taleforde and David Aunselyn, his manor of Pokyngton and the advowson of its church; for [John de Taleforde and David Aunselyn] and their heirs to hold for ever of the chief lords of the fee, by services due and accustomed. Warranty.

1317 John de Knoville died by Trinity term, when there was a final accord involving Alice, widow of John de Knoville. [2]

Final concord, Alice who was wife of John de Knouill, claimant, and John de Taleford and David Aunselyn, deforciants, the manor of Pukynton with appurtenances and the advowson of its church. [John de Taleford and David Aunselyn] granted them to [Alice], for [Alice] to hold of the chief lords of the fee, by services belonging, during her life; after her death, remainder to Cecily daughter of John de Knouill and her heirs of body, to hold for ever as above; if Cecily should die without heirs of body, remainder to Cecily's true heirs, to hold for ever as above. For this [Alice] gave to [John de Taleford and David Aunselyn] £100.

1329 A writ to take the proof of age of Cecily, Eleanor, and Amy, daughters of John de Knovyle was issued on October 23. [3]

1330 On December 8, the escheator was ordered make a partition of land late of John de Knovill into three equal parts for John de Dunne, Thomas le Ercedekne, and Peter Achard, whose wives Eleanor, Amy and Cecily, daughters of John de Knovill, had proven their ages. [4]

Dec. 8. Westminster. Order to the escheator on this side Trent to make partition of the lands late of John de Knovill, tenant in chief of Edward II, into three equal parts in the presence of John de Dune and Thomas le Ercedekne, who have respectively taken to wife Eleanor and Amy, daughters and heirs of the said John de Knovill, who have proved their ages before Simon de Bereford, late escheator, as appears by the proofs returned to Chancery, if they wish to be present, and to deliver to Peter Achard and Cecily his wife, eldest daughter and heir of John de Knovill, who has proved her age in like manner, their pourparty of the said lands, Peter having done fealty, retaining in the king's hand the pourparties falling to the said John, Eleanor, Thomas and Amy, until further order; and to send the partition made by him to be enrolled on the rolls of Chancery.

1331 A second order to make a division of the land late of John Knovill was issued on April 24. [5]

April 24. Wingham. Order to the escheator on this side Trent to make partition of the lands late of John de Knovill etc. as above [p. 203], Robert Selyman, late escheator, having been removed from office before executing an order thereon dated 8 December last.

1331 An order was issued on September 28 to deliver to Thomas le Ercedekne and his wife Amy the land Amy inherited from her father. [6]

Sept. 28. Westminster. Order to the escheator on this side Trent to deliver to Thomas le Ercedekne and Amy his wife, daughter and third heir of John de Knovill, their pourparty of the lands late of John according to the partition made pursuant to an order to Robert Selyman, late escheator [p. 203], the said Thomas having done fealty; retaining in the king's hand the pourparty of John de Dune and Eleanor his wife, daughter and second heir.

1354 The IPM of Alice, late the wife of John de Knoville, states, [7]

Alice, late the wife of John de Knoville.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Alice, 28 January, 28 Edward III.
Gloucester and the adjacent March of Wales. Inq. taken at Magor, Monday after St. Valentine, 28 Edward III.

Redwyk in Magor. A third part of the manor (extent given) held in dower of the inheritance of Michael, son of Amy, daughter and one of the heirs of the said John de Knovill, Thomas Achard, son of Cecily, daughter and another heir of the said John, and John Dun, son of Eleanor, daughter and another heir of the said John. The said manor is held of the king in chief by service of a tenth part of a knight’s fee.
She held no more lands &c. in the bailiwick.

She died on 10 July, 20 Edward III, and the aforesaid Michael died a minor in the month of May, 26 Edward III. Alice, daughter of the aforesaid Amy, and sister of Michael, married to William de Luscote, aged 19 years, is heir of Michael, and the said William and she have issue. John Dun is son and heir of Eleanor, and on 1 August last was 21 years of age. Thomas Achard is son and heir of Cecily, and on 28 December last was 16 years of age.
