1850 Sarah Jane Carter (age 25, born in Ohio) lived in Mississinawa Twp, Darke County, Ohio, in a household with Nathan Carter (age 30), Mary Jane Carter (age 5), Emily Carter (age 3), Hester Ann Carter (age 1), and James Burkirt (age 10). [1]

1850 Nathan Carter, spouse of Sarah Jane Page, was listed on the Agricultural census in Mississinawa, Darke County, Ohio. David Light, who married cousin Sarah Jane Page, was listed adjacent. [2]

1859 Sarah J Carter died of consumption, at age 35, in December, 1859. The mortality census was recorded for Patterson Twp, Darke County, Ohio. [3] The death of John H Carter (age 5/6) in November was in the prior listing.

1859 Sarah J Carter died on December 7, 1859, at age 35y 3m 13d, and was buried at Raper Chapel Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. [4] [5]

1860 Martha C Carter (age 40, born in Ohio) lived in Mississinawa Twp, Darke County, Ohio, in a household with Mary J Carter (age 15), Emily Carter (age 13), Hester Carter (age 1), Laura Carter (age 10), Isabell Carter (age 7), and Lucia Carter (age 4). Martha C Carter's occupation was farmer. Martha C was listed as a male. This is plausibly an entry for Nathan Carter filled in with errors. [6] The adjacent listing was for Z A Page (age 30) and Margret Page (age 24). We suspect that this was Zachariah Asbury Page. [7]

1860 N.C. Carter and Z.A. Page were listed adjacent to each other on the Agricultural census in Mississinawa, Darke County, Ohio. [8]

1861 Nathan C. Carter and Mary J. Baker were married on August 15, 1861, in Darke County, Ohio. (FHL film 001030772). [9]

1870 Sarah J Carter (age 45, born in Ohio) lived in Sebewa Twp, Ionia County, Michigan, in a household with Nathan Carter (age 48), Isabel Carter (age 15), Lucia Carter (age 14), Martha Carter (age 7), Olive M Carter (age 5), Abba Carter (age 3), Samuel Carter (age 2), and Chauncey Carter (age 13). [10]

1878 Probate records for Nathan C Carter, deceased, filed in Ionia County, Michigan, named as heirs widow Mary Carter and sons and daughters: Mary Jane Stout, Emma Thomas, H Esther Carter, Laura Hubbs, Isabel Davis, Lucia Carter, Mattie Carter, May Carter, Abby Carter, Samuel Carter, Minnie Carter, and Frank K Carter. All lived in Ionia County, Michigan except Emma Thomas and Hester Carter who lived in Union City, Ohio and Laura Hubbs who lived at Stanton Michigan. Dated August 19. [11] [12]

1880 Adelbert Glazier, age 27, and Hester A Carter were married on July 5 in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan. (FHL film 000960509). [13]

1901 Mary J. Stout and John W. Riggs were married on April 3, 1901, in Darke County, Ohio. Mary J. Stout was a child of Nathan Carter and Sarah Paige. (FHL film 001030775). [14]

1915 Hester A Glazier, married, daughter of Nathan C Carter and Sarah J Page, died on January 28, 1915, at age 65, in Ionia Twp, Ionia County, Michigan. Hester A Glazier was born on February 9, 1849, in Ohio. [15]

1925 Emma Thomas, widowed, daughter of Nathan Carter and Miss Page, spouse of Geo W. Thomas, died on June 30, 1925, at age 78, in Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana. Emma Thomas was born on March 19, 1847, in Darke County. [16]

1935 Mrs Mary Jane Stout Riggs, widowed, daughter of Nathan Carter and Sarah J Carter, died on September 6, 1935, at age 90, in Ionia Twp, Ionia County, Michigan. Mrs Mary Jane Etout Riggs was born on February 13, 1845, in Darke County, Ohio. [17]
