1821 William Leffard was taxed as a shoemaker in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. [2]

1840 W Leffart lived in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 1 (under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), and 1 (20 thru 29). [3]

1850 C Leffard (age 40, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in a household with W Leffard (age 53), E R Leffard (age 17), J Leffard (age 15), A E Leffard (age 12), E J Leffard (age 10), J R Leffard (age 7), W S Leffard (age 4), and A R Leffard (age 1). [4]

1860 William Lefferd (age 63) lived in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Catharine Lefferd (age 50), William Lefferd (age 14), Adam R Lefferd (age 12), Sarah Lefferd (age 10), and Anna Mary Lefferd (age 7). William Lefferd's occupation was farm laborer. [5] [6]

1870 Catharine Leffard (age 60, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Wm S Leffard (age 73), Sarah C Leffard (age 18), and Carrie Leffard (age 5/12). [7] [8]

1873 Widow Catharine Leffard renounced her right of administration. Letters of administration were granted to John R Leffard and Enoch I Leffard for the estate of Wm S Leffard (late of Porter Twp) on March 11 in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. [9]

1873 William Smith Leffard died on February 27 and was buried at Alexandria Methodist Cemetery, Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. William Smith Leffard was born on July 7, 1797. [10] [11]

From a biographical sketch of Adam Russel Leffard, we find this information about his father, William Smith Leffard.
"William S. Leffard was a Philadelphian, born in that city July 7, 1797. In earlier life he was a shoemaker but later became a farmer. He died in 1874, and his wife in 1884, both at an advanced age. Their children were nine in number: Anna Mary, who married James Cornelius, of Porter township,Huntingdon county, both deceased; Joseph S., of McVeytown, Mifflin county, married to Emma Beigle; Rose E. (Mrs Osburn Laird), of Spruce Anna Elizabeth (Mrs. John S. Laird), who died in 1889; Enoch I., married Caroline Wittaker, resides in Alexandria,, Huntingdon county; John R., of Porter township, married Margaret Brenneman; William S., agent of the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad of Warren, Warren county, Pa., married Alice McClure, of Petersburg, Huntingdon county, who died in 1895; Adam Russel; Sarah C. (Mrs. Scott Beigle), of Spruce Creek. Three of their sons were soldiers in United States army during the war of the Rebellion; one of them, Joseph S. Leffard, was a cannoneer, having charge of one of the guns of Battery D, First Pennsylvania Reserves, Light Artillery, the battery from which the first shot was fired in the battle of Cedar Creek, Va."

1880 Catherin Lefford (age 70, born in Pennsylvania, widowed) lived in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in a household with grand-daughter Caroline Houseman (age 10). Catherin Lefford's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. [13]

1883 Catherine Leffard died on August 5, 1883 and was buried at Alexandria Methodist Cemetery, Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. No grave marker photo is shown at the memorial. [14] [15]

LEFFARD-At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laird,in Spruce Creek, Huntingdon county, Pa., on August 5th, 1883, Mrs. Catharine Leffard, widow of Wm. Leffard, esq., aged 73 years, 3 months and 5 days. [16]

1904 John R. Leffard, age 60, and Mary E. Laird were married on January 20 in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. John R. Leffard was a son of William Leffard and Catharine Leffard. (FHL film 000900602). [17] [18] [19]

1910 Adam Russell Leffard, son of William Leffard and Catherine River, died on July 18, 1910, at age 61, in Huntingdon Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. Adam Russell Leffard was born on October 18, 1848, in Porter Twp Hunt[ingdon] County, Pennsylvania. (Death certificate: 67394). [20]

1912 John River Leffard, son of William Leffard and Catharine River, died on January 22, 1912, at age 68, in Porter Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. John River Leffard was born on February 22, 1843, in Pennsylvania. [21] [22]

1912 Annie E Laird, widow, daughter of William Leffard and Catherine Ryver, died on May 21, 1912, at age 74, in Antis Twp, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Annie E Laird was born on November 14, 1837, in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. (Death certificate: 44135). [23]

1913 Rose A Laird died on September 1 in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania. She was born on August 25, 1832, in Pennsylvania, daughter of Wm Leffard and Catherine Reiver. [24]

1925 Sarah Catherine Beegle, daughter of William Leffard and Catharine River, died on January 9, 1925, at age 73, in Bellwood Twp, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Sarah Catherine Beegle was born on November 21, 1851, in Pennsylvania. (Death certificate: 4173). [25]
