Son of William fitz Baderon of Monmouth, whom he succeeded by 1138. He died between 1170 and 1176. By his wife Roesia de Clare, whom he married before the death of her brother Walter in 1138, he had issue Gilbert, his heir, James and Roesia, wife of Hugh de Lacy. He mentioned a gift made to the Hospitallers for the soul of his wife in his Carta of 1166. Sanders, 65.
de Monemue, Gilbert
Son of Baderon of Monmouth and Roesia de Clare. He succeeded his father as head of the barony of Monouth in 1170/6. He died in 1190, when his son John (d. 1248) was a minor. Sanders, 65.
