1827 Maria Wolf, child of Christian Wolf and wife Sarah, was born on September 10. She was baptized on February 3, 1828, with her parents as sponsors, at Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [1] [2]

1848 Lewis Sponsler and Maria Wolf were married on October 7, 1848, in Carlisle Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [3]

1850 Mariah Sponsler (age 22, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Monroe, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Lewis Sponsler (age 24), William Sponsler (age 0), and George Lutz (age 80). [4]

1853 Christian Wolff, of South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, dated his will on April 21. He made bequests to his wife Sarah and 14 children: Catherine, intermarried with Jenkin Lewis; Susan, intermarried with William Dean; Adam Wolf; Christian Wolf; John Wolf; Jacob Wolf; Rebecca (now a widow); Elizabeth, intermarried with John Youndt; George Wolf; Sarah intermarried with Henry Mellinger; Maria, intermarried with Lewis Sponsler; Ann Wolf; Ruben Wolf; Edward L Wolf; and to Christian and Mary, children of deceased son Henry. 1860 Lewis Sponsler (age 34, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Keithsburg Twp, Mercer County, Illinois, in a household with Maria Sponsler (age 33), William Sponsler (age 11), Sarah E Sponsler (age 9), George W Sponsler (age 7), Alice Sponsler (age 4), and Alfred Sponsler (age 3/12). Lewis Sponsler's occupation was carpenter. [6]

1870 Maria Sponsler (age 42, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Abingdon Twp, Mercer County, Illinois, in a household with Lewis Sponsler (age 44), William Sponsler (age 21), George Sponsler (age 17), Maria A Sponsler (age 14), Alfred L Sponsler (age 10), Anna Sponsler (age 7), and John Sponsler (age 5). 1880 Lewis Sponsler (age 54, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Abington Twp, Mercer County, Illinois, in a household with Maria Sponsler (age 52), Allice Sponsler (age 24), Lincoln Sponsler (age 20), John Sponsler (age 15), and Anna E. Sponsler (age 16). Lewis Sponsler's occupation was farmer. [8]

1900 Maria Sponsler (born in Pennsylvania in Sep 1827, widowed) lived in Aledo, Mercer County, Illinois, in a household with Alice M Sponsler (age 44), and Bessie V Sponsler (age 20). Maria Sponsler's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Maria Sponsler had had 7 children, 7 still living. [9]

1893 Lewis Sponsler died on April 4, 1893 and was buried at Aledo Cemetery Aledo, Mercer County, Illinois. [10] [11]

1913 Maria Sponsler died on August 7, 1913 and was buried at Aledo Cemetery Aledo, Mercer County, Illinois. [12] [13]

1913 An obituary reported [16]:

The death of Mrs. Maria Sponsler, widow of the late Lewis Sponsler occurred at the home in Aledo Thursday afternoon, Aug. 7. Maria Wolff was born in Lancaster County, Pa., Sept. 8, 1827. She was married to Lewis Sponsler Oct. 17, 1848. In 1856 she with her husband and four small children moved to Illinois and located in Keithsburg. Here three children were born, and these seven sons and daughters were all present to pay their last tribute of love to their mother. In 1861 the family removed to a farm in Abingdon township and in 1882 came to Aledo. At the age of 16 Mrs. Sponsler became a member of the Dutch Reformed Church.

W.J. Sponsler of Hutchison, Kas. who was called here by the death of his mother, Mrs Lewis Sponsler went to Keithsburg Saturday to visit his aunt, Mrs R. Wolff and other relatives before returning to his home. His sister, Miss Alice Sponsler of this city accompanied him to Keithsburg for a few days visit.

1917 Alice M. Sponsler died on May 6 and was buried at Aledo Cemetery, Aledo, Mercer County, Illinois. Alice M. Sponsler was born on January 13, 1856. [18] [19]

1925 Anna McWharter, married, died on July 23 in Aledo, Mercer County, Illinois. Anna McWharter was buried on July 25, 1925, in Aledo, Illinois. She was born on July 4, 1863, in Abington Twp, Mercer County, Illinois. [20]

1922 John Sponsler died on August 24 and was buried at Aledo Cemetery, Aledo, Mercer County, Illinois. John Sponsler was born in 1865. [21] [22]

1900 Alfred L Sponsler (born in Illinois in Apr 1860, married for 12 years) lived in Salt Creek, Reno County, Kansas, in a household with Minnie B Sponsler (age 37), Cora Sponsler (age 11), and Lewis B Sponsler (age 7). Alfred L Sponsler's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Alfred L Sponsler was a farmer. [25]

1941 Alfred L. Sponsler was buried at Hutchinson Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. Alfred L. Sponsler was born in 1860. [26] [27]
