1797 Christian Wolf and Maria Ludwig of Lancaster were married by Dr C Lewis Becker on October 8, at the First Reformed Congregation, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. [4] [5]

1798 Christian Wolf was listed on the Direct tax list in North East ward, Lancaster Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the occupant on land owned by [his father] Henry Wolf. Henry Wolf was listed adjacent. [6] Christian lived in a frame house and Henry lived in a brick house. The adjacent listings were for Christopher Kurtz and George Weitzel. [7]

1798 Henry, son of Christian and Marie Wolf, was born on March 27, 1798. He was baptized on April 8, 1798 at the First Reformed church in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [8]

1800 Catharine, daughter of Christ. and Maria Wolf, was born on January 12, 1800. She was baptized on January 26, 1800 at the First Reformed church in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [9]

The will named son Jacob Ludwig, daughter Catharine the wife of George Eckert, daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Shaeffer, and the grand children through son Jacob: Mary the wife of Christian Wolf, Jacob Ludwig, and Magdalena Ludwig. His house was on the north side of Orange Street in the Borough of Lancaster. Grandson George Eckert was named executor. The will was proved on March 27, 1805. [12]

1810 Christian Woolf lived in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 2 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 2 (under 10) and 1 (26 thru 44). The adjacent listing was for Justus Grave, perhaps the household of sister Catharine Grau. [13]

1811 Anna Maria, wife of Christian Wolf, died on March 26 and was buried in the Cocalico Reformed Graveyard, Old Bethany Cemetery, Ephrata, Lancaster County. Her Epitaph, translated from the German, is "Memory of Anna Maria, wife of Christian Wolf. Maiden name Ludwig. Died March 26, 1811. Aged 35 years, 1 month and 11 days." [14] [15] [16]

The will mentioned two houses and named wife Anna, son Christian Wolf, daughter Catharine wife of Justus Groh, and daughter Elizabeth wife of Adam Rudisill. Wife Anna and son Christian were named executors. [17]

1823 Ann Wolf [Christian's mother] and Christian Wolfe, executors of the last will and testament of Henry Wolf, late of the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, sold land to Samuel Slaymaker for $500. The lot was on the North side of Orange Street in the Borough of Lancaster. [22]

1823 Elizabeth Wolf, child of Christian and Sarah Wolf, was born on January 22, 1823, and was baptized on June 14, 1823, in Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [23] [24] [25] [26]

1823 Christian Wolf was named among members of the committee of vigilance in Cocalico Twp for the Democratic Party. [27]

1824 Christian Wolf was a communicant on May 23 at the Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata Twp, Lancaster County.[28]

1825 Sarah Wolf, child of Christian and Sarah Wolf, was born on October 4. She was baptized on April 1, 1826, in Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [29] [30] [31]

1827 Maria Wolf, child of Christian and Sarah Wolf, was born on September 10, 1827, and was baptized on February 3, 1828, in Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [32]

1828 Henry Steiner, blacksmith of Elizabeth Twp, Lancaster County, wrote his will, dated February 22, 1828. The will named wife Susanna and children Elizabeth married to John Schlick; Sally, married to Christian Wolf; Regina, married to John Zartman; Susanna, married to Jacob Stutenroth; John Steiner; Catharine (now deceased) was married to Jacob Hacker; Henry Steiner; and Anna, married to Daniel Spayde. The will was signed Henrich Steiner and was witnessed by John Sherb and Michael Kline. Son John Steiner was named executor. The will was proved on July 16, 1828. [33]

1850 Edward Wolfe (age 17, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Carlisle Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Charles Ogilby (age 44), Rebecca Ogilby (age 40), Joseph Ogilby (age 14), William Ogilby (age 7), Ann Ogilby (age 4), Mary Ogilby (age 1), John Noble (age 35), W Augustus Fughtig (age 19), Sarah Porter (age 15), Catharine Binder (age 36), and Mary Hacket (age 17). Charles Ogilby was a merchant. John, W Augustus, and Edward were salesmen. [49]

1853 Christian Wolff, of South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, dated his will on April 21. He made bequests to his wife Sarah and 14 children: Catherine, intermarried with Jenkin Lewis; Susan, intermarried with William Dean; Adam Wolf; Christian Wolf; John Wolf; Jacob Wolf; Rebecca (now a widow); Elizabeth, intermarried with John Youndt; George Wolf; Sarah intermarried with Henry Mellinger; Maria, intermarried with Lewis Sponsler; Ann Wolf; Ruben Wolf; Edward L Wolf; and to Christian and Mary, children of deceased son Henry. [50]

1854 Christian Wolf, son of Henry Wolf, died on September 2, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Edward L. Wolf was the informant. [51] Christian was buried at Mount Zion Cemetery Churchtown, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [52] [53]

Sudden Death - Mr. Christian Wolf, an aged and respected farmer of South Middletown Township fell dead Saturday last, whilst getting some work done at a smith's shop near the forge. Mr. W was originally from Ephrata, Lancaster County, but resided in this county for many years. [54] [55]

Died … Suddenly, on the 2nd inst., near Boiling Springs, Mr. Christian Wolf, aged 74 years, 5 months, and 28 days. [56] [57]

1854 The sale of two farms was announced. [59] [60]

Orphans' Court Sale - Under an order of sale from the Orphans' Court of Cumberland County the subscriber will offer at public sale on the premises on Saturday September 23, 1854 at 1 o'clock p.m. the following property, a part of the real estate of Christian Wolf deceased:

1. A tract of land containing 41 acres more or less situated in North Middleton township adjoining lands of John Hoover, Henry Snyder, John Beidler, and the McLure's Gap road. On this tract is a 2 story log house and a log barn, a large and good shop suitable for a wagon-maker or carpenter. There are Springs of water in several of the fields and near the house and a number of fruit trees on the premises. About 2 acres are in timber.

2. A tract of about 80 acres, near the above in Frankford township of which about 15 acres are timberland. On this tract are a 2 story log house with kitchen, a log stable and hog pen. There is a good Spring of water convenient to the house, and other springs in the fields. It is well calculated for a grazing or stock farm. It lies along the McLure's Gap road, adjoining the lands of Armstrong Noble, and the heirs of John Hays.

All persons knowing themselves indebted to said estate are required to make immediate payment, and those having claims to present them for settlement to Adam Wolfe, Lancaster City, George Wolf, Franklin County, Executors Oct. 4" [62]

1858 The home of widow Sarah Wolf and son George Wolf was shown on a map of South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [67]

1860 Sarah Wolf (age 68, born in Pennsylvania) lived in South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [68] Families of daughter Rebecca Fredericks (age 41) and son George Wolf (age 41) were listed nearby.

1870 John S Wolf (age 57, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Penn Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Mary Wolf (age 57), Sarah Wolf (age 78, "old lady"), Franklin Wolf (age 17), and Mary E Wolf (age 15). [69]

1877 Sarah Sterner Wolf reportedly died on June 10, 1877 (aged 95) and was buried at Mount Zion Cemetery, Churchtown, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Sarah Sterner [sic, perhaps Steiner] Wolf was born on October 30, 1781 [sic, disagrees by 10 years with 1850 census and family birthday list, cited above]. [70] [71][72]

Gravesite Details Husband is in section P, but record is from Zeamer's listing, and stone was not found on reading of stones in 2005 reading of stones.

1877 Letters of administration were issued to John S Wolf on October 24 for the estate of Sarah Wolf, of South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County. Sarah Wolf had died on June 10. [73] [74]

Research Notes:

1793 Christian Wolf, son of Bernard Wolf, also owned several lots in Lancaster Borough at about this same time. The heirs of Bernard Wolf, of Lancaster Borough, sold land to Christian Wolf, eldest son of Bernard. The estate included 5 lots and a tenement. The Orphans Court found that the estate should not be divided. [75]
