1787 Joseph Schooley, son of James and Mary Schooley, was born on 9 of month 6, in Burlington County, New Jersey. [1] [2] [3]

1795 Sarah Tilton, daughter of Abraham Tilton, was born on April 12, 1795. [4]

1808 Joseph Schooley, son of James of Nottingham, was named in the will of Sharp Brown, of Nottingham. [5] [6]

1815 Benjamin Schooley and Ann Kirkbride Ivins were married on May 4, at the Chesterfield Meeting of Friends. Witnessed by Joseph Schooley and others. [7]

1815 Joseph Schooley married Sarah Tilton, daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Rogers Tilton on October 8. [8] [9]

1816 "Joseph Schooley produced an acknowledgement condemning his outgoing in marriage with a woman not in membership with friends." Dated 6 of month 2, at the Chesterfield monthly meeting. [10]

1820 Joseph Schooley was taxed in Nottingham Twp, Mercer County, New Jersey.

1826 James Schooley died on 25th of 2nd month, likely in Nottingham Twp. Letters of administration for the estate of James Schooley, late of Burlington County, were issued to Joseph Schooley, Mary Schooley, and Benjamin Schooley. [11]

1830 Joseph Schooly lived in Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey in a household with males: 1 (5 thru 9), 2 (10 thru 14), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49); and females: 1 (under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), and 1 (30 thru 39). [12]

1834 Anthony Bullock and George Sykes, executors for the estate of Joseph Bullock (the younger), deceased, late of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County, sold land to Joseph Schooley, of Burlington County. The land was in Chesterfield Twp, near Crosswicks, adjacent to lands of Maria Milnor (grand-daughter of Joseph Bullock) and Apollo Woodward. [13]

1836 Sarah Tilton Schooley was named in her father's will. Abraham Tilton's will was dated 17 Mar 1836. The will was in probate court in Burlington, New Jersey, USA, in 17 Mar 1836. The will named Elizabeth Tilton (Wife), Samuel Tilton (Son), William Tilton (Son), Abraham Tilton (Son), Daniel Tilton (Son), Charlotte Curtis (Daughter), Lucy Burtis (Daughter), Elizabeth J Harris (Daughter), Lydia Ellis (Daughter), Mary J Steward (Daughter), Sarah Schooley (Daughter), and Patience J Labor (Daughter). [14]

1840 Joseph Schooley (age 50-60) and family lived in Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey with male 0-5 (Joseph Franklin), male 5-10(Charles), male 15-20 (William), 2 males 20-30 (Abraham and ?), male 40-50 (?), male 50-60 (Joseph), female 5-10 (Sarah Jane), female 10-15 (Mary A), female 15-20 (Elizabeth), and female 40-50 (Sarah). [15] [16]

1849 Land of J Schooly was shown near Crosswick Creek on the road from Crosswick to Extonville, in northern Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. Nearby landowners included three Satterthwaite families and A Wodward, all likely listed near Joseph Schooley in the 1850 census. [17]

1850 Joseph Schooley (age 60) and Sarah Schooley (age 50) lived in Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey with children Caleb (age 28), William (age 25), Elizabeth (age 22), Mary A (age 20), Charles (age 17), Sarah J (age 16), and Franklin (age 12) and with Robert Scott (age 46) and William Patten (age 17). Son Abraham was married and also lived in Chesterfield Twp. [18] [19]

1851 Sarah T. Tilton Schooley died on April 15 aged 59y 3d at Chesterfield Township, Burlington County, New Jersey and was buried at Upper Freehold Friends Burying Ground, Arneytown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. The death year might be 1854. Sarah T. Tilton Schooley was born on April 12, 1792. [20] [21] [22] [23]

1852 "James S Schooley, deceased, without having made a will, of Hamilton Twp, Mercer County (formerly Nottingham Twp, Burlington County). Applicant: On 26 January, James Schooley of Hamilton Twp, a son, petitioned for a partition of the estate. Other children: Joseph Schooley; Benjamin Schooley; Isaac Schooley; Sarah (Schooley) wife of Charles Hughes; Ann (Schooley) wife of James Ivins; Mary (Schooley) wife of Daniel Wainwright; and grandchildren of James S Schooley, dec'd, namely Mary, Sarah, and Clement Rockhill, the children of a deceased daughter, Rebecca (Schooley) Rockhill, the former wife of Joseph Rockhill. Each claiming an undivided 1/8th share. Dated April 29th 1852." [24] [25]

1855 Joseph Schooley died on October 16, and his estate was administered in Burlington County surrogate court records. [26] Joseph Schooley was buried in the Upper Freehold Meeting of Friends burying ground at Arneytown, Wrightstown, Burlington County New Jersey. [27] [28] Schooley, Joseph ~ died Oct 16, 1855, aged 68 years, 4 months, 8 days. [29] [30]

1856 Abraham T Schooley, William R Schooley, and Charles N Schooley, administrators of the estate of Joseph Schooley, made an inventory of the estate, presented to Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey [31]. Franklin Schooley was named as a minor. Joseph Rockiln and Isaac B Taylor were co-bondsmen. A petition to the Orphans Court named 8 children: Abraham T Schooley, Caleb Schooley, William R Schooley, Elizabeth Aaronson late Schooley wife of George R Arronson, Mary Ann Schooley, Charles N Schooley, Sarah Jane Schooley, J Franklin Schooley (minor under age 21); of Joseph Schooley, late of Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. Eli Eldridge testified that he was familiar with the estate of about 236 acres, on the road leading from Crosswicks to Extinville, with a two story house and that it should not be partitioned without loss of value. The Orphans Court appointed a committee to make a division and the committee recommended no partition. The estate, consisting of one lot adjacent to Appollo Woodward and a lot adjacent to George Satterthwaite, was sold. [32]

1856 The Mercer County Orphans Court, confirmed sale of land from the estate of Joseph Schooley on 16 February. Recorded on March 25. [33] [34]

A memorial stone for two of their daughters is at Greenwood Cemetery, Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey. Mary A Schooley (1828-1903) and Sarah J Barcalow (1835-1889) share the same stone. [35]
