1818 James R Schooley, son of Benjamin and Ann K Schooley, was born on January 22, 1818 in Trenton, New Jersey. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

1819 Benjamin Schooley and wife Ann K Schooley requested a certificate, on 21 of month 9, to transfer from the Philadelphia meeting to Chesterfield, with their sons Samuel and James. [6] [7] [8] [9]

1827 Mary Elizabeth, daughter of John and Lydia A Jackson, was born on November 18. [10]

1831 Benjamin and Ann Schooley with minors Sarah, Samuel I, James R, Rebecca Ann, Elizabeth, and Mary Schooley were listed as belonging to the Chesterfield meeting, in month 1. [11]

1837 Benjamin Schooley, Ann K Schooley and 9 minor children (Samuel I, James K, Sarah C, Rebecca Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Catharine Matilda, Benjamin, and Robert H Schooley) transferred from Chesterfield meeting, New Jersey, to Cincinnati, Ohio [date 1837,4,4]. [12] [13] [14] [15] [16]

1842 James R Schooley, cooper, was listed in the Cincinnati directory, sixth ward, 5th between Western Row and John. Father Benjamin Schooley, tailor, had the same address. [17]

1843 Benjamin Schooley was listed in the Cincinnati directory, tailor, 5th between Western Row and John. James R Schooley, cooper, boards, B Schooley, had the same address. [18]

1847 James R Schooley and Mary E Jackson were married on February 22 in Hamilton County, Ohio. [19] [20]

1848 James Schooley was reported, on January 20, married con mcd (marriage contrary to discipline) by the Quakers. [21] [22] Based on evidence from burial and census records below, it is possible that his wife, Mary Elizabeth Jackson, was a Methodist.

1850 James Schooley (age 21, born NJ) was a cooper in Cincinnati with wife Mary (age 22, born Ohio) and daughter Elisabeth (age 2). John (age 44) and Lydia (age 43) Jackson lived at the same residence. The residence could be a boarding house. [23]

1850-51 James Schooley was a cooper living at ss [south side] Court e[ast] of Broadway. [24]

1855 Jas. [James, perhaps son of Benjamin, since same address as Benjamin Schooley's 1853 listing] Schooley, cooper, 5th, b W. Row and John, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [25]

1856 James Schooley died on April 4 in Cincinnati and was buried on April 30 at Spring Grove Cemetery [26] near Cincinnati with cause of death listed as consumption. His parents were listed as Benj. & Ann Schooley. On 2 June, 1888 his body was moved "From Vault to another place on same lot. Note that his body was moved soon after Mary Eliz Schooley was buried in her parent's lot. [27] [28] [29]

1860 Mary E Schooley (age 32), seamstress, and daughter Lydia A Schooley (age 12) and Mahlon J Schooley (age 8) lived in Cincinnati in the boarding house of John (age 53) and Lydia (age 53) Jackson. [30] [31]

1870 Mary Jackson (age 43, born in Ohio) lived in Cincinnati Ward 14, Hamilton County, Ohio, in a household with John Jackson (age 61), hatter, Lydia Jackson (age 63), Malon Schooly (age 20), who worked as Clk Meth Books Concerns, James Bently (age 22), John Roberts (age 30), and James Dunn (age 30). [32] Perhaps Mary lived with her parents and was listed with her maiden name.

1873 Mary E. Schooley, widow, house at 21 George, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [33]

1874 M. I. Schooley, bookbinder, house at 21 George, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [34]

1876 Mahlon I Schooley, bookbinder, house at 21 George, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [35]

1878 Mary Schooley, widow, house at 21 George, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [36]

1879 Mary Schooley, widow, boards at 21 George, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [37]

1880 Mary E Schooley, widow, house at 21 George, was listed in the Cincinnati directory. [38]

1884 John Jackson died on September 30 of general debility at 21 George St, Cincinnati, Ohio and was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery. His father was John. The burial was ordered by Mahlon Schooley.

1888 Mary E. Schooley, widow of James, was listed in the Cincinnati directory living at 21 George. [39]

1888 Mary Eliz Schooly was buried 23 May 1888 in the lot of John and Lydia A Jackson at Spring Grove Cemetery. She was the daughter of the owner. The order was by Mahlon Schooley (possibly her son). She died 20 May 1888 of cancer at 21 George Street. Mary Elizabeth Schooly was born on November 18, 1827, in Cincinnati, Ohio. [40] [41] [42]

1892 Lydia Ann Jackson, the wife of John Jackson and the daughter of Tindall, died 26 Dec and was buried 29 Dec at Spring Grove Cemetery. She died at 21 George Street, Cincinnati, Ohio of old age. She was born 13 Aug, 1807. The burial was ordered by Mahlon Schooley for Lydia Lovell.

1905 Mahlon Ivens Schooley, married, died on October 4 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. He was born on August 13, 1850, in Cincinnati, son of James Schooley and Mary Jackson. [43]

Research Notes:

1840 James Schooley and Ann Maria Buser of Greene County, Ohio were married on January 9 in Greene County, Ohio. [44] The Schooley family of Greene County might be descendants of Samuel Schooley of Loudoun County, Virginia. Greene County is north of Hamilton County, and these Schooley families used similar names. [45]
