1880 On June 18, Harman Hackstadt (age 39) and his wife Mary (age 34) lived in Pipestone Township, Berrien County, Michigan, with their children Edmund L. (age 16), Charles (age 13), Minta M. (age 3), and Warren (age 1). Harman and his parents were born in Prussia, Mary and her parents were born in Virginia. Edmund and Charles were born in Illinois and Minta and Warren in Michigan. Harman was a farmer, Edmund a student and Charles worked on the farm. Rebecca Rowe (age 15), a servant, lived with the family. [1]

Research Notes:

1852 William Hackstadt purchased 40 acres of land in Berrien County, Michigan on February 10. [2]

1872 William Hackstadt died on October 9 in Pipestone Township, Berrien County, Michigan. The death record states that his age was 54 years 1 month 3 days, the cause of death was lung fever, his occupation was farmer in Pipestone, and he was born in Germany. [3]
