Notes for Lawrence Carpenter and Lucretia Ann Rogers

1828 On January 25, Lawrence Carpenter and Lucresy Ann Rogers were married in Monmouth County, New Jersey. [1]

1850 Laur Carpenter (age 46) and Lucrita Carpenter (age 43) lived in Shrewsbury Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey with Elizabeth (age 17), Sara A (age 15) and Laura W (age 12). [2]

1860 Lawrence Carpenter (age 56) and Lucretia Carpenter (age 53) lived in Shrewsbury Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey with Sarah Ann (age 21) and Charles William (age 14). [3]

1870 Lawrence Carpenter (age 61) and Lucretia Carpenter (age 61) lived in Shrewsbury Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey with Mary Hofmire (age 16), servant. [4]

1872 On February 2, Lucretia Carpenter died, at age 63, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Little Silver, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [5]

1877 The will of Lawrence Carpenter was dated April 2, 1877 and was proved in probate court on April 1, 1879. The will named wife Mary Ann, daughter-in-law Eliza Carpenter widow of deceased son Samuel, daughters Sally Ann Ivins and Elizabeth Ivins, grand-daughters Ada and Jessie Masker, brother-in-law Forman Smith Sr. [6] [7]

1879 On March 18, Lawrence Carpenter died, at age 74y 9m, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Little Silver, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [8] A death notice reported [9]:

Mr. Lawrence Carpenter, an old resident of Fair Haven, died at his residence in that village on Tuesday morning at the advanced age of 74 years. Mr. Carpenter was born on the boundary line between France and Germany. He came to this country and by industry and economy managed to secure quite a valuable property. The deceased was a member of the village church.

1897 Orphans Court records report distribution of the estate of Lawrence Carpenter to heirs not named in his will [10]:

Widow, Mary Ann Carpenter was recently deceased. Legatee Ada Masker was now Ada M Duryea. Legatee Jessie Masker was now Jessie Berrien. Legatee Elizabeth Ivins died after the said Lawrence Carpenter, dec'd leaving children: Charles H. Ivins; Elizabeth (Ivins) Sayre; Albert L. Ivins; Elwood Ivins; and William Ivins, dec'd who left a widow, Mary L. Ivins, and two children, viz., Harry S. Ivins and Frank E. Ivins.
