Notes for William Oudeby and Cecilia Hermesthorp

1436/37 William Oudeby's son Ralph died on January 6. The IPM for William Rothewell names John Stoughton as the next heir of Ralph Oudeby. John Stoughton's relationship to Ralph Oudeby is stated as "son of Thomas son of Maud, sister of William, father of Ralph." [1] [2] The statement in the original IPM is [3]

Research Notes:

The HOP biography of Thomas Oudeby, MP from Rutland in 1397, 1402, 1404, states that the father of Thomas was Thomas Oudeby, MP from Leicestershire in 1369. [4] However, the IPM for William Rothewell states that the father of Ralph Oudeby was named William. Several documents (deeds and wills) indicate that Thomas, Ralph, John and Agnes Oudeby were siblings, that John Hermesthorp was their uncle, and Cecilia, sister of John Hermesthorp, was their mother.
