Meschin, Willelm
Brother of Ranulf I, earl of Chester. Given Gilsland by his brother, he failed to hold it and was given the barony of Egremont, Cumberland, by Henry I. He acquired the barony of Skipton in Yorkshire by marriage to Cecilia, daughter of Robert de Rumilly (d.c. 1096). He died c. 1130/35, leaving a son Ranulf (d.s.p 1135/45) and daughters Alice and Avice. His widow married secondly Henry de Tracy, and died c. 1151. Sanders 142; EYC vii.
