1576 Thomas Abbott wrote his will after March 25 (and before June1). He did not mention a son Thomas, but possibly his son Thomas, baptized in 1554, had already received his portion. The will states, [4]

1582 "Anne Abbot the wife of Thomas Abbot was buried the xxix day of June" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [5] Since the record says "wife" rather than "widow" of Thomas Abbott, this may have been a first wife of the younger Thomas Abbott. There are no records for the years 1576-81, 1583, and 1584 in the surviving Chappel register.
