1747 John Brown, of Hanover, Burlington County dated his will on September 10. The will named children: Clayton, Theodidia Groves, John plantation at age, he paying legacies to Samuel, Sarah and Catharine and making suitable provision for my wife Catherine, his mother. Negro Jim his freedom in 4 years. Real and personal estate. Executors: wife and brother Abraham Brown. Witnesses: William Emley, Sam'l Emley, Mary Emley. Proved July 30, 1748. Citing Lib. 5, p. 628. 1748 The inventory of the personal estate of John Brown, dated July 24, was valued at £629.7.4. Made by Jacob Andrews and Sami. Emley, includes "One Grate Bible" and sundry other books £3.5. Cattle £209 and negroes [136. [2]
