Notes for Ephraim Smith and Isabel Bartlett

1714 Isabel, daughter of John and Elizabeth Bartlett, was born on August 18 in Norwalk, Connecticut. [1]

1734 Ephraim Smith was a freeman of Stamford, Connecticut by March 30 when his name was included in "A list of ye names of ye Freemen in Stamford, coppy out March ye 30th 1734." [2]

1737 Nathan, son of Ephraim and Isabel (Bartlett) Smith, was born on November 24 in Stamford, Connecticut. [3] [4]

1739 "April 9. Sarah the Daughter of Ephraim Smith" was baptized at the New Canaan Congregational Church. [5]

1740 "April 13. A.D. 1740. Ephraim Smith & Izzabel his wife" were admitted into the New Canaan Congregational Church in New Canann, Fairfield County, Connecticut. [6]

1740 "April 27. James & Nathan the sons of Ephraim Smith" were baptized at the New Canaan Congregational Church. [7]

1741-1742 "Susanna the Daughter of Ephraim Smith" was baptized at the New Canaan Congregational Church by visiting minister Rev. Mr. Ingersol during the vacancy from June 10, 1741, to February 3, 1741-42 (the seventh of eight baptisms listed). [8]

1743 "April 10. Thomas the son of Ephraim Smith" was baptized at the New Canaan Congregational Church. [9]

1752 Ruama Smith, daughter of Ephraim Smith of Stamford, was baptized on March 29 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Stamford, Connecticut. [10]

1760 "At a town meeting orderly warned & covend at the town house in Stanford ye 16th day of December 1760" Ephraim Smith was chosen as one of eight "Tithing men." [11]

1763 "At a town meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Stamford, being legally warned & convened at ye town house on Dec. 15th A.D. 1763" Ephraim Smith was chosen as one of thirty eight "Surveyers of highways." [12]

1807 or 1809 Ephraim Smith died in November and was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. Hale's transcription of his monument inscription states "died Nov. 1807, age 99 yrs." He would have been in his 99th year in November 1809. [13]
