1702 Robert Heart was commissioned as a surgeon in Portsmouth on June 11. [1]

1702-1718 Robert Heart was a surgeon in Gosport, with payment of his salary listed in Navy accounts.

Gosport (Peter Levermore, agent); 1 July 1709 to 30 June 1712; also for arrears of quarters Xmas 1702 to Midsummer 1706; also for salaries to Dr. William Smith, physician, 1 Jan. 1709-10 to 30 Sept. 1711 and 1 Jan. 1711-12 to 30 June 1712, to Thomas Tucker, surgeon (and late surgeon at the Hospital at Fortune), same times, to Robert Heart, another surgeon, same times, with an allowance 1 Jan. 1709 to 30 June 1712. 1707 Robert Hart and Anne Brandon were married on August 28 at St. Mary, Portsea, Hampshire, England. [5]

1709/10 Brandon Heart, son of Robert and Anne Heart, was baptized on March 19 at Saint Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. [6]

1712 Catharine Heart, daughter of Robert and Anne Heart, was baptized on October 28 at Saint Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. [7]

1731 Brandon Heart, son of Robert Heart, succeeded his father as Garison Surgeon at Portsmouth on October 2. [8]

1732/33 Robert Heart and Brandon Heart were parties to a petition to Parliament regarding the estate of William Brandon, father of Anne Brandon, deceased, and grandfather of Brandon Heart. The Parliament agreed on February 27 to consider the petition and acted on the petition on March 12. The discussion mentions that William Brandon was Agent Victualler in Portsmouth at the time of his death in 1704 and was indebted to the Crown. [9]

1737 Robert Heart of Gosport, Southampton, wrote his will on May 14 and added codicils dated May 26 and August 30, 1737, and April 11, 1838. [10]

In the Name of God Amen This fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord 1737 and in the tenth year of his Majesties Reign I Robert Heart of Gosport in the County of South'ton Esquire being in Good health and of sound and perfect mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First I commend my Soul to God and my Body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named Item all my freeholds Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their Rights Members and appurtenances Scituate lying and being in Gosport aforesaid and also in the Parish of Alvorstoake and in the Isle of Wight in the said County of South'ton and also in the County of Kent or else where within the Kingdom of Great Britain I Give devise and bequeath unto my Bother Major Peter Heart Thomas Bowerbank of Portsmouth in the said County of South'ton Gentleman Thomas Bemister of Gosport aforesaid apothecary and James Ward of Forton in the said Parish of Alverstoake Gentleman and the Survivors and Survivor of them and to the heirs and assigns of such Survivor upon this Special Trust and Confidence that my said Brother the said Thomas Bowerbank Thomas Bemister and James Ward and the Survivors and Survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such Survivor shall and do from time to time receive the Rents Issues and proffitts of my said Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments for the use of my two Grandaughters Anne and Lydia Heart the children of my son Brandon Heart deceased untill they shall severally attain to their respective ages of one and twenty years and shall lay out employ and bestow so much of the said Rents Issues and proffitts as shall be necessary for the bringing up cloathing and Educating my said two Grandchildren in a handsome manner in the mean while and after they shall have serverally attained to the said age then I Give devise and bequeath all my said Messuages Lands Tehements and Premisses with their and every of their appurtenances unto my said Gradaughters their heirs and assigns for ever equally to be divided between them as Tenants in Common but not as Joint Tenants and if either of them shall happen to dye before she shall attain the age of one and twenty yeares having no child or children lawfully begotten then the part of share of her so dying shall go and remain to the survivor her heir and assigns forever But if both my said Grand Children shall dye under that age without leaving any such child or children then I give devise and bequeath all my said Messuages Lands Tenements and Premisses with th'appurtenances unto my two Nephews James Gordon and Robert Gordon their heirs and assigns for ever equally to be divided between them as Tenants in Common Item all my Goods Chattles Plate Ready money money on Governmt Securitys and Personall Estate whatsoever (after payment of my Debts Funerall Expences and the Charges of proving this my Will) I give and bequeath unto my said Grother Peter Heart the said Thomas Bowerbank Thomas Bemister and James Ward their Executors administrators and assigns for the use of my said two Grandchildren to be paid and delivered the in Equall parts and proportions when they shall arrive at their repective ages of one and twenty years and in case either of them shall happen to dye before that time the part or share of her dying shall go and be paid to the Survivor of them and if bothe of them shall happen to dye under that age without leaving any child or children lawfully begotten behind them then I Give and bequeathe my said personal Estate to my said two Nephews James Gordon and Robert Gordon equally to be divided between them Item I do hereby make nominate and appoint my said Brother the said Thomas Bowerbank Thomas Bamister and James Ward and the Survivor of them Executors of this my Will and Guradians to my said Grandchildren during their several Minorities and I do hereby order and direct my said Executors from time to time as thre shall be occasion to put out my said money at Interest on the best Securitys that can be gotten for the benefit of my said Grandchildren and that my said Executors shall not be answerable or accountable for any losses or accidents that may happen thereby unless occasioned by their own wilfull neglect or mismanagement and that it shall and may be lawfull for y said Executors to detain in their hands so much of the Rents Issues and Profitts of my said Messuages Lands and Premisses or of my personal Estate as shall be sufficient to reimburse them for any Charges and time toughing or concerning the Trust hereby reposed in them In Witness where of (revoking as I hereby do all other Wills by me made) I have to this my last Will and testament written or contained in two sheets of paper and annexed together with my Seal at the Top Subscribed my Name only to the firest sheet and to the other sheet I have also subscribed my Name and Set my Seal this day and year within written Robert Heart. Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Robert Heart the Testator to be his last Will and Testament in the pressence of us who at his request and in his presence and also in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereunto. Whereas I have by my last Will and Testament before written made nominated and appointed James Ward of Forton in the parish of Alverstoake Gentleman one of the devissees Trustees and Executors of my said Will Now I do hereby as a Codicill to my said Will absolutely revoke the same and do displace and discharge the said James Ward from any devise Trust or Executorship thereto and do ordet that he shall not any ways concern himself as a devisee Trustee Executor or Guardian with my Brother Major Petere Heart Mr. Thomas Bowerband and Mr. Thomas Bemister or any or either of them in the management of the several devisees and Trusts in my said Will contained or otherwise howsoever as if he the said James Ward had never been named therein. In WItness whereof (confirming my siad Will in every other respect) I have to this codicell set my hand and Seal the twenty Sixth day of May 1737. Robert Heart. Whereas by last Will and testament above written I have nominated and appointed James Wark of Forton in the parish of Alvertoke Gentleman one of the Devisees Trustees and Executors of my said Will and Whereas by a Codicill Subjoyned to my said Will bearing date the twenty sixth day of May 1737 I have absolutely revoked the same and thereby did displace and discharge the said James Ward from any devise Trust and Executorship thereto and did order that he should not any ways concern himself as a devisee Trustee Executor or Guardian with my Brother Major Peter Heart Mr. Thomas Bowerbank and Mr. Thomas Bemister or any of them in the management of the several devises and Trusts in my said Will contained or otherwise howsoever as if the sadi James Ward had never been named therein Now I do hereby as another Codicell to this my Will nominate make and appoint Mr. John Monckton one of the Devisees Trustees Executors and Guardians in the room and place of the said James Ward and do order that be taken and admitted as such in all matters what soever toughing the Execution of my Will aforesaid In Witness whereof (confirming my said Will and the said recited Codicill in all and every other respect I have to this Codicill Set my hand and Seal the thirtieth day of August 1737. As a further Codicill to my Will herunto annexed I Robert Heart Esquire do hereby Give and devise to my daughter in Law Lydia Heart Widow Relict of my Son Brandon Heart deceased one annuity or yearly Rent charge of fifty pounds Issuing and going out of all and every my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoeer and payable by equall half yearly payments the first payment thereof to comence on the usual Fealt or day of payment of Rents whcih shall happen next and immediately after my decease To hold to the said Lydia and her assigns durint her natural life and I do hereby also commit my Grand Children to her Wardship in conjunction with my Executors and Trustees in my orignal will named again I do hereby remise and release unto my Nephew Robert Gordon all and all manner of Debts Dues Dutys Summe and Summes of money whatever to me due and owing at this time by and from him by promisory Note Simple Contract or otherwise howsoever again I do for me and my heirs Executors and administrators remise release and for ever Quit Claime unto Thomas Pearce of Portsea in the County of South'ton Carver and Ann his Wife (heretofore called or known by the name of Ann Smith of Portsmouth in the county of South'ton Spinster.) and to the heirs and assigns of the said Ann one Tripartite Indenture of Mortgage bearing Date the twenty third day of August 1728 made or mentioned to be made betweene the said Ann on the first part and Andrew Stewart of Portsmouth aforesaid Gentle mane and Joseph Bissell of the same place Gentleman on the second part and me the said Robert Heart on the third part together with all and every the Summe and Summes of money as well pricipal as Interest due and to grow due thereon and also all and every the Clauses Articles Conditions Payments Covenants and Agreements whatsoever in the same Indenture mentioned and contained and all and every Bond or Bonds touchin and concering the matter aforesaid. In Witness where of (confirming the said Will and Codicills thereto subjoined in every respect) I have this codicil annexed as aforesiad set my hand and Seal the Eleventh day of April Anno Domini 1738. 1739 The will with three codicils of Robert Heart was proved on October 17 with administration granted to Thomas Bowerbank and Thomas Bemister two of the executors with power reserved to make the like grant to Peter Heart Esquire and John Monckton, the other executors named in the will and second codicil.
