Notes for Brandon Heart and Lydia Andrews

1730 Brandon Heart, of Southampton, gentleman, bachelor, and Lydia Andrews, spinster, of All Saints in Southampton, received a licence on August 14 to be married at All Saints, Millbrook, or St Mary's. [1] They were married on August 17 at All Saints, Southampton, Hampshire, England. [2]

1731 Ann Heart, daughter of Brandon and Lidia Heart, was baptized on August 27 at St. Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. [3]

1731 Brandon Heart, son of Robert Heart, succeeded his father as Garison Surgeon at Portsmouth on October 2. [4]

1733 Lydia Heart, daughter of Brandon Heart, was baptized on November 30 at St. Mary, Portsea, Hampshire, England. [5]

1734 Lydia Heart, daughter of Brandon Heart, was baptized on December 13 at St. Mary, Portsea, Hampshire, England. [6]

1737 Brandon Heart wrote his will on April 18. [7]

In the Name of God Amen I Brandon Heart of Stamsey in the Parish of Portsea in the County of Southampton Merchant being sick and weak but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding Do make and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following First I give my Soul to God and my Body to the Earth to be buryed at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and my Worldly Estate as followeth also I give devise and bequeath all my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments Goods Chattels Ready Money Debts whether by Mortgage Bond Note or otherwise and all other my Reall and Personall Estate of what kind or nature soever and wheresoever (my Debts and Funerall Expences being first satisfied and paid) unto Lydia my beloved Wife her heires Executors and Administrators to her and their use absolutely and for ever and I do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my worth friends James Ward of Fortune in the parish of Alverstoake in the said County Gentleman and Salter Andrews of Fareham in the said County Surgeon my said Executors of this my Will and I do hereby order that each of my said Executors shall be charged and chargeable only with their own Acts Receipts and Payments and not with the acts receipts and payments of the other and I do hereby futher direct that my said Executors shall reimburse themselves all their Charges and Expences in executing the Trust in them reposed out of my said Estate In Testimony whereof (hereby revoking all former Wills and bequests at any time by me heretofore made) I the said Brandon Heart have hereunto set my hand and Seal and Published and declared this to be my last Will and Testament this eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord 1737 Brandon Heart Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Testator as adn for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereto set our names as Witnesses at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other even the day of the date hereof. 1737 The will of Brandon Heart was proved on May 17 with adminsitration granted to James Ward and Salter Andrews. [8]

1740/41 Lydia Heart wrote her will on March 12. [9]

In the Name of God Amen This Twelfth Day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Forty I Lydia Heart of Gosport in the County of Southampton Widow being sick and weak But of good sound sense disposing mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God for it Do therefore make and Declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and pricipally after this Life and ended I recommend my Soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it hopin that through the merits Death and passion of my Saviour and only Redeemer Jusus Christ to inherit everlasting Life and as to my worldly Estate which the Lord of his infinite mercy and great Goodness has blessed me withall I gie and dispose thereof as followeth that is to say I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Heart all that my Gold Watch with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and large Diamond Ring my Right Cloaths EarRings my Garnet Ring and a Small Ring Set in a Star my Stone Shoe Buckles my pearl Necklace a Chales Coral Necklace and a pair of Cypher Buttons Item I give and bequeath unto my dauter Lydia Heart all that my Hold Snuff Box and agat Cup my Diamond Ring with Seven Diamonds my Wourking RIng a Heart Garnet Ring a Diamond Ring which was my Father Andrews my Silver shoe Bucles my agat Shoe bow Buttons a Silver Patch BOx and a Touthpick Case Item all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my person Estates I give and bequeath the same unto my said Two Daughters Ann and Lydia to be Equally divided betwixt them share and share alike at their several and respcective ages of Twenty one years to be paid them by my Executors in Trust and if in case any or either of my said Two Daughter shall happen to Dye before they shall attain to the age og Twenty one years without Issue that then such part and share of my said personal Estate shall go and remain unto the Survivor of them and in case both of my said Daughters should happen to Dye before they shall attain to the ageo fo Twenty one years and withoug Issue that then and in such case I give and bequeath all and singular my sid personal Estate to my Brothers Nataniel Andrews Salter Andrews and to my Sister Jane Ward and their heirs Equally to be divided betwixt them share and share alike Except such as my wearing apparel plate Rings pictures Linnen and all other my Household Goods which I do hereby give and bequeath unto my said Sister Jane Ward and her heirs foreever and I herdby make nominate and appoint my said Brother Nathaniel Andrews and my Brother in Law James Ward Executors in Trust of this my last Will and Testament and desire that they or one of them see tge same justly fulfilled and I do hereby give unto them for their Trouble and pains the Sume of Ten pounds a peice to buy them each a ring In Witness whereof I the said Lydia Heart have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Day and year first abovewritten. 1742 The will of Lydia Heart was proved on November 3 and adminstration granted to Nathaniel Andrews and James Ward the executors in trust. [10]
