Notes for William Pantulf and Hawise fitz Warin

1210 William Pantulf of Wem served as a Knight in King John's Irish campaign. [1]

1213 On May 9, William Pantulf participated in a Donum, made at Canterbury, to the Knights attendant on the King. His share was 3 merks, as were the shares of Thomas Corbet, Baldwin de Hodenet, and William Pantulf. [2]

1215 In January, 10 merks were paid to Henry fitz Count, Hugh Pantulf, and William, his brother, by a trusted agent of King John. [3]

c 1226 The Jury which assembled on this occasion consisted of 25 persons, all probably of knightly degree, and including John le Strange, John fitz Alan, and William Pantulf. [4]

1226 "Hawise, daughter of Fulk fitz Warin by his wife Maud, became Lady Wem." "Hawise fitz Warin, born about 1208, was before 1226 married to William Pantulf, Baron of Wem, and, having been her mother's Grantee in the Manor of Norborough, was sued for the same by her elder and uterine brother, Theobald Walter." "the heirs of William Pantulf of Wem were still holding Norborough in the reign of Edward I." [5]

1233 On February 4, Fulk fitz Warin fined 600 merks for custody of the heirs and lands of William Pantulf, then deceased. [6] The heirs were two daughters, Matilda and Elizabeth [7].
