A Wortley pedigree, published by Hunter, reports that Nicholas Wortley, whose will was dated 1448, was the father of several children, including Nicholas Wortley married to Isabel Tunstall; Robert Wortley, father of Robert; Thomas Wortley; and Matilda Wortley (no husband named). This pedigree reports that Nicholas and Isabel Wortley were the parents of Muriel Wortley, married to Peter Frecheville, of Staveley. [4]

A Wortley pedigree, published by Foster, reports that Sir Nicholas Wortley, whose will was proved 22 January 1448, married Elizabeth Waterton and that they were the parents of several children, including Maude Wortley, married to Peter Frecheville of Derby; Nicholas Wortley married to Isabel Tunstall; Robert Wortley; Thomas Wortley; Matilda Wortley; Catherine Wortley; Ursula Wortley married to Richard Beaumont; and Mary Wortley married to John Lacy. This pedigree reports that Nicholas and Isabel Wortley were the parents of Muriel Wortley, married to Peter Frecheville, of Staveley. [5]

Research Notes:

We are researching Peter Frecheville, who married Maude Wortley. We show Maude as a daughter of this Nicholas Wortley, whose will was dated 1448, which is consistent with both the Hunter and the Foster pedigrees and the 1488 land transfer. Another Peter Frecheville, of Staveley, married Muriel Wortley, daughter of Nicholas Wortley and Isabel Tunstall. We do not know the relationship, if any, between these two men named Peter Frecheville.
