1775 "Elizabeth D. of Samuel & Mary Howes born April 30th Chancery Lane" was baptized on May 21 at St Dunstan in the West, London. [1]

1776 John Joseph Marshall, son of Jonathan and Ann Marshall, was born on July 20 and baptized on August 6 at St. James, Westminster, Middlesex, England. [2]

1798-1799 John Joseph Marshall, son of Jonathan Marshall, goldsmith, requested admission to the Freedom of the City of London by patrimony. He was born in 1776, after the admission of his father. [3]

1801 At St George Bloomsbury, "John Marshall and Elizabeth Howes both of this parish were married in this Church by Banns this Sixth Day of July In the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and One by me A.P. Poston Curate. This marriage was Solemnized between us: J. Marshall, Eliza Howes. In the presence of: S.B. Howes, Rebecca Cultart." [4]

1808 Daughter Mary Ann Marshall was born on April 18 in St Anne Westminster, Middlesex, England. "Born 1808 Apr 18 Mary Ann Marshall of John Joseph and Elizabeth [Bapt 1808 May] 15." [5]

1816 Daughter Elizabeth Margaret Marshall was born on November 2 in St Anne Westminster, Middlesex, England. "Baptisms solemnized in the Parish of Ste Anne Westminster in the County of Middlesex in the Year 1816. Elizabeth Margaret Marshall, born Nov. 2, baptized Nov. 24, 1816, parents John Joseph and Elizabeth, abode Wardons St, quality, trade or profession Cabinet maker." [6]

1822 Elizabeth Marshall died in St. Marylebone and was buried in St. Anne Westminster, Middlesex, England. "Burials in the parish of St. Anne Westminster in the county of Middlesex: Elizabeth Marshall, abode St. Marylebone, buried 28 June 1822, age 47 years." [7]

1824 John Joseph Marshall wrote his will on 8 June. [8] [9]

I John Marshall of No. 5 Alsops Place Regents Park Marylebone in the County of Middlesex Cabinet Maker do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament all others revoking which may have been heretofore made. I order all just debts to be paid, testamentary expenses. I give my household furniture plate linen china clothes books lease of house in Alsops Place No 5 lease of house No 12 Mary's Place Mary's St now Road my lease of 4 cottages Britain Gardens Brown St Edgeware Road all the Interests I have in possession provision of two houses in Baker St North being No 52 and 53 now in possession of Mr Saunders and Mr Rainbow likewise an improved rent of 5 pounds a year of a house No 5 Archer St in the parish of St James Westminster for a short term to rent and all monies I may be possessed of at the time of my decrease I give in equal proportion to my two dearly beloved girls Mary Ann and Elizabeth Marshall save and excepting the sum of one hundred pounds which I hereby give to my dearest Harriet Stein of No 14 Panton Square my early and dearest of friends as a memorial of my sincere esteem. The above leasehold property not to be sold during the lifetime of the above named Mary and Elizabeth Marshall then go to their lawful issue but in failure thereof to go to Harriet Stein as aforesaid and if Harriet Stein should die to go to William John Marshall my Nephew and my Brother William's son. I likewise appoint Maria Stein Spinster and Harriet Stein Spinster my Executors likewise Mr Steward, Pavior, Salisbury Place now Road. Jun 9th 1824 a mourning Ring to be given my dear friend Maria Stein. John Joseph Marshall. N.B. my leases are all enclosed with my father's will in the Tin Box and all other of my papers.

1831 John Joseph Marshall died and was buried on February 20 at St Anne Soho, Middlesex, England. "Burials in the parish of St Anne Soho in the county of Middlesex: John Joseph Marshall, abode St. Pancras, buried 20 February 1831, age 54 years." [10]

1832 Administration of the estate of John Joseph Marshall was granted to his daughter Mary Ann Meakins on July 4. [11] [12]

Appeared Personally Thomas Langford of No 12 Mary Place Hampstead Road in the County of Middlesex Stay maker and Rebecca Phillips of No 101 Drummond Street Custom Square in the County of Middlesex wife of Thomas Phillips and made oath and deposed as follows that they know and were well acquainted for several years past and down to the time of his death with John Joseph Marshall late of No 5 Alsops Place Regent Park in the County of Middlesex deceased and also with his manner and character of handwriting and subscription having frequently seen him write and write and subscribe his name and having now carefully viewed and perused the Testamentary paper herein annexed purporting to be the last will and Testament of the said deceased which said Will begins thus "I John Marshall of No 5 Alsops Place Regents Park Marylebone in the County of Middlesex" ends thus "fathers will in the Tin Box and all other of my papers" and is thus subscribed "John Joseph Marshall" they made oath that the whole body sense and contents of the said Will together with the name and subscription "John Joseph Marshall" set and subscribed thereto are of the said proper character hand writing and subscription of the said John Joseph Marshall the Testator deceased. Thos Langford Rebecca Phillips on the ninth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty two the said Thomas Langford and Rebecca Phillips were duly sworn to the truth of this affidavit Before me W.C. Curlew Surr present Frederick William Pott Notary Public.

On the 4th July 1832 adm'on with the Will annexed of the Goods Chattels and Credits of John Joseph Marshall late of No 5 Alsops Place Regents Park in the County of Middlesex Cabinet maker widower deceased was granted to Mary Ann in the Will written and Meakins and formerly Marshall wife of Charles William Meakins one of the natural and lawful children and one of the legatees named in the said will having been first sworn duly to administer Maria Stein Spinster Harriet Stein Spinster and James Steward the Executors having first renounced their probate and execution of the said Will and no residuary Legatee being therein named.
