A newer stone records "Our Grandmother Barbara E. W. Rudisill, 1748-1859". [24] [25] Note that daughter Eve Rudisill, wife of Jacob Fishel, has a grave marker of very similar design with inscription "Our Sister, Eve Rudisill, Wife of Jacob Fishel, died Jan. 10, 1877 …". [26] Another stone for "Our Aunt Mary M. Rudisull, died Dec. 17, 1881 …" is of similar design. [27] All three stones are similarly weathered, suggesting that they were placed at the same time. Perhaps the stones were all made at the same time (1881-1899, Egle reported the inscription in "Notes and Queries" published in 1899) as memorials to previously deceased family members.

Research Notes:

The 1830 and 1840 census records both indicate that Elizabeth was born between 1750-1760, which matches with the birthdate of Andrew Rudisill (1756) and is consistent with the birth of her mother Susanna in 1741. Her gravemarker indicates that she died at age 111 in 1859, suggesting that she was born in 1747. A biosketch, published in 1886, of her grandson Emanuel Rudisill, recounts the story of her living for 111 years. Perhaps her gravemarker was placed as a monument after her death, with an error for her age at death.

A biosketch of grandson Emanuel, published in 1886, reports [28]:

Emanuel Rudisill, farmer, P. O. Gettysburg, was born August 20, 1827, in Heidelberg Township, York Co., Penn. The family was originally of French or German descent. Three brothers came to Pennsylvania at an early date, one settled near York, one in Lancaster County, and one near Jefferson, in York County. Our subject's grandfather, Andrew Rudisill, was born and reared in York County, and was a son of Worley Rudisill, who was born at Codorus, same county. Andrew Rudisill was a poor boy when he started out in life for himself; was a shoe-maker by trade; became quite wealthy, and gave each of his four sons a homestead farm near Hanover, York County. He was an industrious man, a remarkable character, and was a representative citizen of York County. He married Miss Elizabeth Wildesin, a descendant of one of the oldest families in York County, where her father's brothers used to hunt with the friendly Indians in an early day. Mrs. Andrew Rudisill died in York County when over one hundred and eleven years of age (when one hundred and three years old she would still go out fishing, and she kept all her faculties till the last). To Andrew and Elizabeth Rudisill were born four sons and three daughters, who lived to a good old age: Mary was ninety-one years and some months, John was nineyt-one. Andrew was over ninety-one, Eve was eighty-six, Jacob was sixty-two, Henry, who is still living, is about eighty-eight, Elizabeth was fifty years old when she died. Of these, Jacob, who was also a farmer, married Christiana Lohr, who was seventy-two years old at her death. They both died in Hanover, Penn. They had six children: Jacob, Emanuel, Rebecca, Christiana, John and Abraham. Of these, Emanuel Rudisill was educated near home and has been a farmer all his life; he now owns 280 acres of land in Mountpleasant Township, this county. He was united in marriage with Leah Spangler, born in York County, Penn., daughter of Zachariah Spangler. Twelve children were born to this union, all now living: Spangler, Alice, Worley, Charles, Martin, Frank, Jacob, Alverta, Katie, Andrew, Minnie and Rebecca. Mr. and Mrs. Rudisill are members of St. James Lutheran Church. Politically he is a Democrat, but is no office seeker, preferring a quiet life.

A biosketch of son Henry reports [29]:

Henry Rudisill, the youngest son of Andrew, was born Nov. 12, 1797, in Heidelberg township, York county. On March 25, 1823. he married Susanna, daughter of Samuel Eichelberger, by whom he had these children: Andrew, Henry, Adam, Samuel, Edward, Sarah, Catherine, Amanda, Susanna, Louisa Elizabeth, Henrietta Matilda, Maria, Reuben and Aaron. Henry Rudisill was a farmer in Heidelberg township, where he died at the age of ninety-four years, being buried at Bear's Meeting House, near Hanover. Mrs. Susanna (Eichelberger) Rudisill was born Oct. 9, 1803, and died Aug. 23, 1851, aged forty-seven years, ten months and fourteen days. Catherine Eichelberger, the mother of Susanna (Eichelberger) Rudisill, was a granddaughter of the great-grandfather of the elder Mathias Smyser, whose sketch will be found elsewhere in these annals. She was also a granddaughter of Philip Frederick Eichelberger, who came to America from Germany April 17, 1693. To Henry and Susanna Rudisill were born the following children: Andrew E., born Aug. 10, 1823, died in Hanover; Henry E., born Oct. 27, 1824, died in Greene Co., Ohio; Adam E., born March 23, 1826, died in Iowa; Samuel E., born Jan. 25, 1828, died in Penn town ship, York county; Edward E., born Dec. 5, 1829, died in Dayton, Ohio; Sarah C., born Dec. 30, 1831, is the wife of C. H. Sultner, of York; Amanda S., born Feb. 16, 1834, died young; Louisa E. E., born Sept. 7, 1836, died in York; Henrietta M. E., born Aug. 9. 1839, lives in Hanover; Maria E., born Jan. 2, 1841, died in Hanover; Reuben, born March 1, 1843, lives in Hanover; and Aaron E.
