1623 Michael Newbold was born July 1, 1623 in Handsworth, York, England. [1]

1677-8 Jan. 28-29. [Memorandum of deed] George Hutchinson to Michael Newbold of Sheffield Parke, Co. of Yorke, husbandman, for 1/8 of the 3-90 of the Province, bo't of Edward Byllinge March 1, 1676-7. [2]

1677-82 Mansfield Twp was first settled."Most of the pioneers of Mansfield were men of wealth and standing in England. One of their number was Michael Newbold, who located a tract of eight hundred acres on Assiscunk Creek". [3]

1681 Michael Newbold, in Burlington, had surveyed for him about four hundred acres, seven miles to the southeast of that town, a mile from the present village of Columbus, and two and a half miles from Jobstown. [4]

1682 Michael Newbold owned land next to that of Percival Towle near Mount Pleasant and land of Thomas Foulke. [5]

1685 Michael Newbold took up another tract of four hundred and fifty acres at Oneonickon, which is now bisected by the road running from Mount Holly to Freehold. This latter property he bequeathed to one of his sons. [6]

1690 On May 19, Michael Newbold, of Burlington County, yeoman, dated his will. Wife Anne. Children Lettice, Mary, Margrett, Anne, wife of James Nutt in England, Samuel in England, John do. if he returns to W. Jersey, Joshua, Michael, James and Thomas, grandson Gershom, son of daughter Alice, six children of dau. Lettice, two of dau. Margrett, four of dau. Mary. Real and personal estate, partly in England. Executors sons Michael, James and Thomas with George Hutcheson and Thomas Revell as assistants. Witnesses Tho. Revell, John Eyre, Jesse (?) Silver. Codicill of November 19, 1692, witnessed by Thomas Scattergood, Peter Andrews and Tho. Revell. Proved February 25, 1692-3, probated April 9, 1712. [7]

1692-3 Jan. 23. Inventory of the estate of Michael Newbold (771.14.3, of which 205 is a debt, due in England, 150 for house and plantation, 50 for a plantation near Oneanickon, 40 for 600 a. to be taken up and lots at Burlington); made by Tho. Revell, John Curtis and John Brown. [8]

1692-3 Feb. 25. Bond of the executors, named in the will. John Curtis and John Brown fellow bondsmen. [9]

1699 Nov. 3. Do. Michael Newbould of Mansfield Township, Burlington County, yeoman, surviving executor of his father's, Michael Newbould's will, to John Powell of said County, yeoman, for 200 acres, formerly surveyed for grantor's brother, Thomas Newbould dec'd, of the father's land given to grantor, Thomas and James, his sons; said 200 a. are in Mansfield Township.
