1581 Robert Revell, son of John Revell, Esquire, was baptized on February 12, 1580/81 at North Wingfield, Derbyshire, England. [1] [2]

1580 Robert Revell was the second son of John and Margaret A Revell. [3]

Crest: An arm in armour embowed argent, holding in the hand proper a dagger of the first, hilted or, point downwards, between two bat's wings of the second, membraned gules.

Robert Revell, son of John Revell and Margaret Beighton, married Ann Knolles of Dethick. [4] [5] [6] A pedigree reports "Robert Revell married Ann Kneller of Dethic." [7]

Robert and Anne Revell had several children: Edward Revell baptised on March 18th, 1617/18 at Morton; William Revell baptised on April 27, 1624 at Morton; Anne baptised on December 9, 1627 at Morton; Elizabeth November baptised on November 6, 1631 at Morton; and Alice baptised on June 6, 1620 at Morton. Other records indicate that Robert and Anne also had daughters Jane and Dorothy. [8]

c 1632 Robert Revell of Wooley in Derbyshire, gentleman, died about 1632. ["Robert Revell of Wooley in Com Derb: gen: objit circa ann: 1632"][9]

1642 "Robert Revell ... died in Edward's lifetime." [10] Brother Edward Revell died before 19 Aug, 1642.

1656 The Ogston estate was left to William Revell, the second son of Robert Revell and Anne, by John Revell, who inherited it from his brother Edward in 1653. [11]

1673 Ann Revell "Bur[ied] at Shirland Feb 7th 1673. Survived her husband." [12]

Research Notes:

Anne's last name has been reported as Knowles, Knolles, and Kneller.

1614 Thomas Hole and Anne Knowle were married at Morton parish, Derbyshire on 10 June. [13]

1667 George Platts and Anne Knowles were married at Morton parish, Derbyshire on 1 May. [14]

1673 Ann Kneller Revell was buried 7 February at Shirland. [15]

Who was Robert Revell, vicar at Dronfield (see notes below)?

1626 Robert Revell; patron, the King, died 1648; was vicar at Dronfield. [16]

1628-1643 Robert Revell was vicar of Dronfield parish. [17]

1628/29 On 12 February, Robert Revill, vicar of Dronfield, married Mrs. Frances Hunlocke at Dronfield. [18]

1633 On 6 September, "Articles examined by the Commissioners for causes ecclesiastical against Robert Revell, Vicar of Dronfield, co Derby.
1 That Richard Taylor being convented before his ordinary for fornication and enjoined public penance, Revell received of Taylor 5s or 3s for a bribe, and subscribed a certificate of the penance, when in truth it was never performed.
2 That Revell followed his cart through the street without his band, and made hay without his band, like one that lived by husbandry.
3 That a child being named Daniel by the Godfathers and Godmothers, Revell would christen it by no name but George.
4 and 5 That on two occasions stated severally, Revell was shamefully drunken.
6 That being distempered with drink he drew his rapier and threatened Francis Bullock therewith.
7 That on Ascension Day, 1632, being at home drinking he sent his son to bid the Clerk read the prayers to the Congregation. which he did." [19] [20]

1618 "the wall around Morton churchyard was alloted among thirty-five parishioners, being landholders. The extent of their responsibility was determined by the number of oxgangs each of them held. Mr. Revell's portion was ... five oxgangs. The remainder of the wall was divided among 34 persons." [21]

A pedigree reports Francis et. 17, 1662, daughter of Edward, son of Robert, son of John Reuell de Ogston. [22]
