1518-1529 "Plaintiffs: William Oxendon, brother of Edward Oxendon, deceased. Defendants: Clement Robertes and Alice, his wife, executrix and late the wife of the said Edward, Robert Bolt of London, mercer, executor of Elizabeth, late the wife of John Best, and William Buttrey. Subject: Actionson statutes staple given by complainant and the said Edward to the said Best, and by these three to the said Buttrey and William Meredyth, and misappropriation of goods and lands of the said Edward. 1529 Final concord, Michaelmas term, Thomas Roberth, esq, Walter Hendle, Clement Roberth and William Lynche, v Henry Hyllys and his wife Margaret. A messuage, two gardens, 10a of land, 10a of meadow, 10a of pasture, 40a of wood, 20a of furze and heath in Ticehurst and Goudhurst [in Kent] to the use of TR. [2]

1557/8 January 3 In his will, Thomas Roberts, named his brothers William Robertes and then Clement Robertes as residual heirs in tail male after his sons Walter, Thomas and John. [3]

1586/7 February 2 "Rolls of the High Court, Court Baron, View of Frankpledge, &c., holden by Anthony Viscount-montague, for the Manor of Battle, 1587. John Roberts, of the Parish of Markinton, in Kent, Gent., younger son of Clement Roberts, of Wingham, Gent., deceased, and next of kin to William Roberts, of Battle, Gent., deceased, Feofment to Anthony Lowe, of Battle, Yeoman, of a Mansion House, with other Buildings, Gardens, Orchards, etc., in Middleburgh, inherited of the said William Roberts, and held by the said John Roberts of the Manor of Battle, according to the Custom of Borough English.
