Notes for John Roberts and Mary Sackeville

1552 In his will, Walter Roberts left "To euery of the doughters of John Roberthe my sonne 10 marcs at their mariage." This suggests that none of the daughters (named in the suit summary below) were married when he wrote his will, 11 February 13 Henry 8 [1521/22]. [1]

c 1524 A lawsuit by the daughters of John Roberts suggests that John died between 1509 and 1517. According to the statements in the suit, John's widow Marie as guardian on behalf of John's minor daughters had taken the profits of a piece of land for seven years or more before October 1524, and John had executed a deed concerning the land during the reign of Henry VIII, thus in 1509 or later. [2]

"Ralph Penne, esq. Writ 2 Nov 1 Hen. VII (1485), inq. Saturday after All Hallows, 2 Hen. VII. ... He died 3 Oct,1 Hen. VII, John Robarth, aged 16 and more, is his cousin and heir." [3]
