1950 Virginia Whitesell (age 21, born in Oklahoma, married), wife, lived in Gainesville Twp, Alachua County, Florida, in a household with Isaac W Whitesell (age 21), Ann G Whitesell (age 2), and Richard F Whitesell (age 1). Virginia Whitesell's parents were both born in USA. Virginia Whitesell's residence was not a farm. The highest grade of school she had completed was Yes. [3] [4]

2020 Virginia C. Betts Whitesell died on March 4 and was buried at Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida. Virginia C. Betts Whitesell was born on September 8, 1928. [5] [6]

Virginia Betts Whitesell was born on September 8, 1928. She graduated from Bradenton High School in June of 1946. She is survived by Welch Whitesell, Ann Whitesell Adair, Richard F. Whitesell, Pamela W. McDonald, and Robert W. Whitesell, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She worked as a telephone operator for Peninsula Telephone Company until June 11, 1947 when she married Welch Whitesell. Ann and Richard were born in Gainesville where Welch received his Bachelor degree. She then worked for AT&T, Ft. Bliss, Texas while Welch was in the army. Joy was born in Gainesville while Welch earned his law degree. Robert was born in Sarasota where Welch was practicing law. They lived in Englewood 5 years, South Gate 10 years, Bearded Oaks 12 years and SaraBay 25 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Faith Betts, her sisters Grace Riddick and Barbara Joy Harris and two brothers Gene Betts and Jerry Betts.

Virginia enjoyed many years entertaining in her home, playing bridge, camping outdoors in the woods and the Florida Keys during lobster season also traveling the world with Welch and friends. They took twenty-seven cruises and enjoyed extended vacations in England, South Africa, China and Europe. They have visited every continent except Antarctica.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, a charter member of the South Trail Church of Christ in Sarasota, where she was present each week for over seventy years. Her children all attended Christian colleges and remain faithful as a result of her dedication to the Lord.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Virginia has left a legacy of caring for all and will be greatly missed by all.

A visitation will be held at Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel on Saturday, March 7 at 10 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 AM and interment at 2:30 PM at Manasota Memorial Park.

Isaac Welch Whitesell, Jr. was born January 6, 1929. He is survived by his children Ann Whitesell Adair, Richard F. Whitesell, Pamela W. McDonald and Robert W. Whitesell, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He milked his mother's cow in the 9th and 11th grade, his Home Economic teacher's cow in the 12th grade, his father's cows in the summer before attending Military School in Castle Heights, Lebanon, TN while in the 10th grade.

He received his bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Florida in June 1951. He then worked for a CPA firm in Minneapolis, MN in the summer of 1951. He was called to active duty in the Army Artillery, then transferred to finance where he was Assistant Finance Officer at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX for 18 months.

He returned to Gainesville to seek a law degree in June of 1956 after which he worked for a law firm in Tampa for 18 months, moved back
to Sarasota and practiced law in Englewood for 5 years where he was attorney for Englewood Water District, returned to Sarasota and was attorney for the Town of Longboat Key for 12 years. He continued private practice in a law firm for another 20 years.

He is predeceased by his wife Virginia Betts Whitesell, parents Isaac Welch Whitesell, his mother Mary Billington Whitesell and three sisters, Jean, Vivienne, and Ann.

Welch was a long-time member, District Governor, and Past President of the SaraBay Rotary Club and a lifelong member of the South Trail Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the South Trail Church.

A Visitation will be held on Mon. Aug. 9th at 10am at South Trail Community Church (5601 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota) followed by church Service beginning at 11am and interment at Manasota Memorial Park at 3pm.
