1852 Luther Knapp and Mary M. Stone were married on March 28 in Stowe, Lamoille County, Vermont, by A. C. Burke, Justice of the Peace. The groom and bride both lived in Waterbury. [1] [2]

1860 In the U.S. census, Luther Knapp, a blacksmith, age 29, lived in Stowe, Lamoille, Vermont, with Mary M. age 27, Lucius age 9, Jennette age 7, Ellen age 6, Billy age 5, Arthur age 3, and Fannie age 7/12. Luther was born in New Hampshire and the others were born in Vermont.

1863 the "Revised Roster of Vermont Volunteers and Lists of Vermonters who Served in the Army and Navy of the United States during the War of the Rebellion, 1861-66," Compiled by Authority of the General Assembly under Direction of Theodore S. Peck, Adjutant-General, (Montpelier, VT: Press of the Watchman Publishing Co., 1892), p. 122, lists Luther Knapp.

1870 Luther Knapp, a blacksmith, age 40, lived in Northfield, Washington, Vermont, with Mary M. (age 38), Lucius (age 18), Jenette (age 17), Ella (age 15), William (age 14), Arthur (age 12), Fred (age 8), George (age 6), and Dewey Chancey, a blacksmith, age 47. Luther was born in New Hampshire and the others were born in Vermont. The value of Luther's real estate was 450, and of his personal estate, 550.

1870 Mary W. (Stons) Knapp, age 38 years, 2 months, 8 days, died of Typhoid fever on July 27 in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont. The death record names her father as Simeon and her mother as A. M. Carpenter. [3]

1871 Luther Knapp and Algaline (Alger) Simpson were married on April 19 in Roxbury, Vermont. Luther, age 40, was a blacksmith and a resident of Northfield. This was his second marriage. His father was John R. Knapp and his mother was Rachel and he was born in Concord, New Hampshire. [4] [5]

1880 Luther Knapp (age 50), a blacksmith, lived in Northfield, Washington, Vermont, with his wife Angeline (age 50), and daughters Alma S. (age 25) and Flora A. (age 8). Luther and both of his parents were born in New Hampshire, Angeline and her parents were born in Vermont, and the daughters were born in Vermont with father born in New Hampshire and mother born in Vermont. 1889 Luther Knapp, blacksmith, was listed in the Business directory of Washingon, VT, in Northfield, home on Pleasant.

1900 On June 7, Luther Knap (age 70) lived in Northfield, Washington, Vermont. He was born in May 1830 in New Hampshire, his father was born in Vermont and his mother in New Hampshire. He was a widower and blacksmith. [7]

1903 Luther Knapp and Anna M. Morrow were married on August 3 in Northfield, Vermont. Luther, age 73, was a blacksmith and lived in Northfield. His parents were John R. Knapp and Rachel Ferno, and he was born in London, New Hampshire. [8]

1910 In May, Luther Knapp (age 81) and his wife Anna (age 59) lived in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont. [9]

1912 Luther Knapp, age 82 years, 5 months, 28 days, died on October 27 in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont. His occupation was blacksmith. The death record states that he was born in London, New Hampshire, his father was John Q. Knapp, born in New Hampshire, and his mother was Rachel Dyke. The cause of death was general paralysis with contributing disease apoplexy. [10] He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Northfield, Washington County, Vermont. The memorial stone states his dates as 1828-1912. [11]An obituary states,
