Notes for William Curry and Ann Ivins

1789 At the November term of the Burlington County Orphans Court, Isaac Ivins petitioned to be appointed guardian of his minor children under the age of fourteen: Barzillai, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, and Ann Ivins. He was appointed guardian until they achieved age 14 upon posting of bond. [1]

1790 Isaac Ivins requested a certificate of removal from the Chesterfield meeting of Burlington County to the Salem meeting on 4th:5mo:1790 for himself and Hannah his wife with their six children Barzilla, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, and Ann Ivins. [2]

1791 The account of the estate of Isaac Ivins [married to Mary Hopkins] named his 32 living children and grand-children, including son, Isaac Ivins, and his grand-children: Barzillai, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, and Ann as children of Isaac. 1813 Ann Ivins and William Curry were married on December 2 (second day of twelfth month, 1813) in Pilesgrove, Salem County, New Jersey. Ann Ivins was a daughter of Isaac Ivins and Hannah Ivins of Woolwich Twp, Gloucester County. William was a son of William and Mary Curry of Pilesgrove Twp. (FHL film 007578896). [4] [5] The marriage was also reported in Methodist church records. [6]

1821 William Curry and wife Ann sold land to Thomas Ivins (perhaps Ann's brother), all of Pittsgrove Twp, Salem County, on June 12. [7]

1827 William Curry was indebted to Daniel Garrison, both of Salem County, New Jersey. William absconded from his debtors and left the state. The court published notices for William to appear, but he did not appear within the appropriate time. Land of William was sold to pay the debt. The deed was dated June 13. [8]

1827 William Curry died on July 17 at Pittsgrove, Salem County, New Jersey and was buried at Woodstown Friends Burial Ground, Woodstown, Salem County, New Jersey. William Curry was born on November 20, 1783. [9] [10]

Woodstown Friends Burial Ground database gives a burial date of July 11, 1827. He was a married adult member of the Meeting.

1827 Micajah Reeve was named administrator for the estate of William Curry of Salem County, New Jersey on December 8. [11]

1832 Micajah Reeve, administrator responsible for the debts of the estate of William Curry, sold land from the estate to Ann Curry by deed dated September 15. [12]

1845 Son William Curry died and was buried on April 18 at Woodstown Friends Burial Ground, Woodstown, Salem County, New Jersey. [13] [14]

Woodstown Friends Burial Ground database gives a burial date of April 18, 1845. He was a single adult member of the Meeting. Son of Ann Curry.

1857 Ann T Curry died on May 5 at Upper Pittsgrove, Salem County, New Jersey and was buried at Woodstown Friends Burial Ground, Woodstown, Salem County, New Jersey. Ann T Curry was born in 1788. [15] [16]

Widow of William Curry. Cause of death palsy, dropsy as listed in Woodstown Friends Cemetery database. Age 69 at death. Buried on May 5, 1857. She was a member of the Meeting.

Research Notes:

Did William die in 1827, or was his estate administered due to his absence? The court records suggest that his estate was settled because he did not appear in court, rather than because he died.

1817 William Curry died on November 4 at Pittsgrove, Salem County, New Jersey and was buried at Woodstown Friends Burial Ground, Woodstown, Salem County, New Jersey. William Curry was born on July 1, 1751. [17] [18]

William is a son of William Curry and Martha Rogers. He appeared on lists of those being fined for non-participation in the military during the Revolution and on tax lists for Buckingham Township as early as 1778.
