Notes for Edward Galland and Agnes Willmot

1639 Edward Galland wrote his will on June 13. Mahler's transcription of the will states, [1]

In the name of God Amen I Edwarde Galland of Wantage in the countie of Berks Vintner being sicke in bodye but of perfect memorie the lord bee praised therefore doe make and ordayne this my last Will and testament in manner and forme following (vizt.) First I bequeath my soule unto the hands of Allmightie God my maker and to Jesus Christ my onely Saviour and Redeemer, by the merits of whose pretious death and passion I hope to be saved And as for my body I comitt it to the earth to be decentlie interred in christian buryall, And as touching such goods and chattells as god hath indued mee with all my will is, it shall be bestowed in manner and forme following (vizt.) Imprimis to the mother Church of Sarum fower pence Item to the poore of Wanting to be given them in bread at my buryall twentie shillings Item my will is, That John Sevier my sonne in lawe shalbe my Executor, twoe or three of my honest neighbours shall immediately after my decease take and praise to their worth all my goods, chattells, debtes uppon bonkes of accompte or otherwise and whatsoever the said goods, chatells, debtes shall amounte unto over and above the debtes w[hi]ch I owe uppon bondes or otherwise, the said over plus my Will is shalbe equally devided betweene my fower daughters living in Wantinge aforesaid (vizt) my daughter Alice my daughter Frances my daughter Marie and my daughter Ursula … Item I give unto my said son William … Item I give to my daughter Jane Twentie shillings to buy her a ringe. … In witnes whereof I have sett my hande and seale and published this to be my last will and testament the Thirteenth day of June in the Fifteenth yeare of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles … Anno Dni 1639 Edward Galland … Proved 21 Nov. 1639 on the oath of Johannes Clement, husband of Marie Clement als Galland, "filie."
