In the first place, I give and bequeath to my wife Lydia Diggs the tract of land I purchased of Samuel Curtis ? as the houseplace during her natural life, except fifty or sixty acres hereinafter devised in trust to my daughter Briley? Strickland, also the following negro slaves already? her natural life viz Peter Jun, Aur, Patience and Bill, and at her death the said negro slaves to be decided as my sons Marcius? and Riley Diggs and Brooks Hinson shall see proper, but if any of my negros here in ? let given and bequeathed to my children should die in the lifetime of my wife then the place of the negro or negress so dying is to be supplied out of the negros left to my wife for her lifetime.

5th I give devise and bequeath unto Thomas Diggs Riley Diggs and Brooks Hinson in trust for the sale and separate use and ? of my daughter Biddy Strickland and for and during her natural life so as not to be subject to any of the debts … control or liabilities of her husband Mathew Strickland the following …
