1854 Augustus Ivins was a manager in Upper Freehold for building a monument to commemorate the battle of Monmouth. [2]

1855 Augustus W Ivins lived at Millstone Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [3]

1860 Augustus W Ivins (age 35, born in New Jersey) lived in Hamilton, Mercer County, New Jersey, at post office Trenton, with Lydia A Ivins (age 35, born in New Jersey), George R Ivins (age 11, born in New Jersey), and Jane A Ivins (age 3, born in New Jersey). Augustus's father James lived next door. [4]

1863 Amanda Ivins, daughter of Augustus Ivins, died on April 23, 1863 at age 6. She was born and died at Hamilton Square, Mercer County, New Jersey. [5]

1863 Lydia A. Ivins was named as a daughter in the will of Lydia Van Hise of Monmouth County, New Jersey, dated July 25. [6]

1865 Agustas Ivens was listed, in the New Jersey census, living at Millstone Township, Monmouth, New Jersey. [7]

1870 Augustus Ivins (age 45, born in New Jersey), carpenter, lived in Millstone, Monmouth County, New Jersey, at post office Imlaystown, with Lydia Ivins (age 48, born in New Jersey), George Ivins (age 20, born in New Jersey), Mary E Johnson (age 8), and Isaac Vanhise (age 55). Parents James and Ann Ivins was listed adjacent. [8]

1880 Geo. R. Ivins (age 31, born in New Jersey), self (head), married, lived in Millstone Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey, in a household with wife Sarah Ivins (age 38), step-daughter Mary M. Smith (age 11), step-daughter Catherine Smith (age 9), son Clarance Ivins (age 1), and mother Lydia A. Ivins (age 46 [sic]), widow. Geo. R. Ivins's parents were both born in New Jersey. Geo. R. Ivins's occupation was farmer. [13]

Research Notes:

The notes above report residences in Mercer County and in Monmouth County in New Jersey, but the names suggest they some refer to the same Augustus Ivins. We seek clarification about the residence of Augustus Ivins, son of James Ivins. The names of residence changed perhaps because township and county names changed during this period. Millstone, Monmouth County is adjacent to East Windsor, Mercer County.
