1800 Ann Scholey, daughter of James and Mary Scholey, was born on 11 of month 6, in Burlington County, New Jersey. [1]

1815 Benjamin Schooley and Ann Kirkbride Ivins were married on May 4, at the Chesterfield Meeting of Friends. Witnessed by Ann Schooley and others. [2]

1824 James Ivins and Ann Schooley were married on December 23, 1824 in Burlington County, New Jersey. [3]

1830 James R Ivins (age 20-30) lived in Nottingham Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey with male age 0-5 (Abraham?), male age 5-10 (Augustus?), and female age 20-30 (wife Ann?). [4] [5]

1840 James Ivins (age 30-40) lived in Nottingham Twp, Mercer County, New Jersey with male age 10-15 (Edwin?), male age 15-20 (Augustus?), female age 30-40 (wife Ann) and female age 60-70 (James' mother? Mother-in-law Mary Schooley was listed in a separate household). [6]

1850 James Ivins (age 50) and Ann (age 50) lived in Hamilton Twp, Mercer County, New Jersey with Abraham (not Edwin?) age 21. Son Augustus (age 24) and Lydia A Ivins (age 23) and George R Ivins (age 1) lived with them. [7] [8]

1852 "James S Schooley, deceased, without having made a will, of Hamilton Twp, Mercer County (formerly Nottingham Twp, Burlington County). Applicant: On 26 January, James Schooley of Hamilton Twp, a son, petitioned for a partition of the estate. Other children: Joseph Schooley; Benjamin Schooley; Isaac Schooley; Sarah (Schooley) wife of Charles Hughes; Ann (Schooley) wife of James Ivins; Mary (Schooley) wife of Daniel Wainwright; and grandchildren of James S Schooley, dec'd, namely Mary, Sarah, and Clement Rockhill, the children of a deceased daughter, Rebecca (Schooley) Rockhill, the former wife of Joseph Rockhill. Each claiming an undivided 1/8th share. Dated April 29th 1852." [9] [10]

1860 James R Ivins (age 59) lived in Trenton (post office), Hamilton Twp, Mercer County, New Jersey, in a household with Ann Ivins (age 60) and Joseph C Ivins (age 5). [11] [12] Son Augustus (age 35) and Lydia A Ivins (age 35) lived next door with children George R (age 11) and Jane A (age 3).

The names of residence changed perhaps because township and county names changed during this period. Millstone, Monmouth County is adjacent to East Windsor, Mercer County. This family perhaps did not move.

1865 James R Ivins was listed, in the New Jersey census, living at Millstone Township, Monmouth, New Jersey. [13]

1870 James Ivins (age 69) and Ann (age 70) lived in Millstone Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Son Augustus (age 45, carpenter) and Lydia Ivins (age 48) lived next door with son George (age 20). [14] [15]

1880 James R. Ivins (age 79, born in New Jersey), self (head), married, lived in Millstone, Monmouth County, New Jersey, in a household with Ann Ivins (age 80). James R. Ivins's parents were both born in New Jersey. James R. Ivins's occupation was farmer. [16]

1880 The will of Ann Ivins, dated March 15, 1880, was proved in Monmouth County, New Jersey, on January 13, 1881. [17]

In the namd of God, Amen, I, Ann Ivins of the township of Millstone, in the County of Monmouth, and State of New Jersey, ... publish this my last will and testament ... Item I give and bequeath to my grand son George R Ivins the house where he now resides, with the land joining it, beginning at a stone on the north east corner of the farm where I now reside ... during his natural life ... Item the said George R Ivins to give his mother a home on the aforesaid premises during her natural life or as long as she remains a widow. Second, I give and bequeath to the five youngest children of my son Edwin T.S. Ivins, Samuel W, Ivins, John T Ivins, Emily S Ivins, Mary A Ivins, Sarah A Ivins, the farm where they now reside, situated in the township of Jackson, County of Ocean State of New Jersey, containing seventy three acres ..., also a part of the farm whereon I now live situated in the township of Millstone ... containing 40 acres ... not to be divided amongst the said children while their father lives but at his death and the death of his wife Lydia A Ivins to be equally divided among the five children aforesaid ... Third I give and bequeath to my grandson James A Ivins the lot of land joining J. W Patterson's which he has leased of me at present being a part of the lot which I bought from John B Robbins, subject to the payment of twelve dollars a year to be paid to my son Edwin T.S. Ivins and his wife Lydia A Ivins ... Fourth I give and bequeath to my grandson Joseph C Ivins the lots ... which I bought of John B Robbins in the township of Jackson, County of Ocean ... In witness whereof I have set my hand this fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and eighty. Lastly I hereby appoint my son Edwin T. S Ivins and my grandson Samuel W Ivins and my grandson John T Ivins executors of this my last will and testament.

1880 Ann Schooley Ivins died on December 16 at age 80y at Millstone Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey and was buried at Hamilton Square Baptist Church Cemetery, Hamilton Square, Mercer County, New Jersey. Ann Schooley Ivins was born on June 11, 1800. [18] [19] [20]

Ann/Nancy was the daughter of James Scholey (Schooley) and Mary Rogers. She married James R. Ivins.

1883 James R. Ivins, widowed, died on November 28 at age 82y 10m at Millstone Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey and was buried at Hamilton Square Baptist Church Cemetery, Hamilton Square, Mercer County, New Jersey. James R. Ivins was born about January, 1801 based on his age at death. [21] [22] [23]

James was born about Jan. 1801 based on his age at death (82 years & 10 months), the son of Samuel and Ann Ivins. He married Ann "Nancy" Scholey (Schooley).

Research Notes:

James and Ann Ivins had children Augustus and Edwin. Lived in Hamilton Square and then "the pines" near Jackson Twp, Ocean County, New Jersey. [24]

Findagrave notes (likely by Joseph R Klett) suggest that James R Ivins was a son of Samuel and Ann Ivins. Was this Samuel and Ann (Rickey) Ivins? We seek documentation to identify James' parents. Perhaps the original death record of James (not seen) named his parents. [25]

1883 James R. Ivins died on Nov. 28, 1883 and was buried at Hamilton Square Baptist Church Cemetery, Hamilton Square, Mercer County, New Jersey. James R. Ivins was born Jan., 1801. The Findagrave memorial reported that James R. Ivins was born at New Jersey, USA. The Findagrave memorial reported that James R. Ivins died at Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA. No grave marker photo is shown at the memorial.
