1598 The undated will of "John Hawten of the Lea in the parish of Swakelyef in the countie of Oxon gentleman" was proved on May 9. He bequeathed to his son William Hawten, to his youngest son Richard Hawten when age 20, to his daughters Elizabeth, Jane, Amye, Mary, Anne, and Margerye, and to his wife Elizabeth, sole executrix. He mentioned a request of his wife's father Mr Brunt. He requested his brother George Hawten and his kinsman John Brooks to be overseers. [1]
