Notes for Lambert Rickey Ivins and Sarah Ann Carpenter

1823 A certificate of removal is granted to Lydia Ivins wife of Mahlon Ivins with her three minor children (to wit) William, Wardell, and Lambert Rickey Ivins to the mo. meeting of Shrewsbury. [1]

1823 "a certificate from Chesterfield monthly meeting recommending Lydia Ivins with her 3 minor children viz William, Wardell, and Lambert Ivins was received and accepted" on 3 of month 3, at the Shrewsbury, Monmouth women's meeting. [2]

1850 Chas Ivans (age 23, born in New Jersey) lived in Shrewsbury Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey, in a household with Wardell Ivans (age 29), Lambert Ivans (age 27), Hannah Diamond (age 50), John Sylvester (age 36), Elizabeth Sylvester (age 19), Lararay T Sylvester (age 1), and Thomas Tindle (age 22). [3] [4]

1860 Charles E Ivins (age 37), Elisabeth (age 27), William C (age 8), Charles H (age 5), Wardell (age 40), Lambert (age 39) and Robert B Ivins (age 21) lived in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [5]

1870 Lambert Ivins (age 49) and Sarah (age 30) lived in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey with children Jessie (age 8) and Ida (age 6). [6]

1870 The Rahway and Plainfield meeting accepted an acknowledgement of Lambert R. Ivins dated 20 of month 10 [7]:

Having violated the discipline of our religious society in the accomplishment of my marriage, which I sincerely regret, I hope you will overlook this breach of duty, and continue me in membership heretofore. With respect, I remain your Friend. Lambert R. Ivins.

1877 The will of Lawrence Carpenter was dated April 2, 1877 and was proved in probate court on April 1, 1879. The will named wife Mary Ann, daughter-in-law Eliza Carpenter widow of deceased son Samuel, daughters Sally Ann Ivins and Elizabeth Ivins, grand-daughters Ada and Jessie Masker, brother-in-law Forman Smith Sr. [8] [9]

1880 Lambert Ivins (age 60) and Sallie (age 38) lived in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey with children Jessie (age 18) and Ada M (age 15), Florence (age 7), and Carrie (age 6). [10]

1885 Lamback Ivins (age 60+), perhaps this Lambert, lived in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [11] Sallie A Ivins (age 20-60) was listed as the adjacent family. [12]

1886 Lambert R Ivins died on May 24 and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Little Silver, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Lambert R Ivins was born on April 1, 1821. He was married and was a farmer. [13] [14]

1886 Sallie A Ivins, Benjamin L King, and Tyler W Throckmorton, of Monmouth County posted bond for the administration of the estate of Lambert R. Ivins. Dated June 11. [15]

1897 Orphans Court records report distribution of the estate of Lawrence Carpenter to heirs not named in his will [16]:

Widow, Mary Ann Carpenter was recently deceased. Legatee Ada Masker was now Ada M Duryea. Legatee Jessie Masker was now Jessie Berrien. Legatee Elizabeth Ivins died after the said Lawrence Carpenter, dec'd leaving children: Charles H. Ivins; Elizabeth (Ivins) Sayre; Albert L. Ivins; Elwood Ivins; and William Ivins, dec'd who left a widow, Mary L. Ivins, and two children, viz., Harry S. Ivins and Frank E. Ivins.

1900 Widow Sallie A Ivins (age 58, born August 1841) and boarder Charles Wooley (age 38) lived in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Sallie had had 4 children, all living. Sallie was a farmer. [17]

1912 Sarah A Carpenter, wife of Lambert R Ivins, died on November 3 and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Little Silver, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [18]

1944 An obituary for Ada, daughter of Sarah, by her first marriage, reported [19]:

Mrs. Ada M. Duryea
Long Branch - Mrs. Ada M. Duryea, of 78 Norwood avenue, died at her home last night. She was born in Fair Haven, the daughter of the late William and Sarah Carpenter Masker. Mrs. Duryea was a graduate of the Young Ladies Seminary, Red Bank, and was a member of the Long Branch Women's club, the Long Branch Garden's club, and the Long Branch Nursing association and attended the First Baptist church, this place.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Florence L. Ivins, Long Branch and Mrs. Carrie M. Shearer, Middletown, N.Y.
Funeral Arrangements are in charge of the John W. Flock Funeral home, this place.

1947 Carrie May Shearer died and was buried at Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Orange County, New York. [20]
