Research Notes:

1760 Joseph Schooley, son of Benjamin and Martha, was born on the 2nd day of the 11th month in New Jersey. [1] [2]

1817 Joseph Schooley, perhaps this one, witnessed the will of James Inglis and inventoried the estate of Philip Waldorf, both of Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey.

1786 Joseph Schooley, born 1760 at Newton, married Susan Case. [3] [4]

1830 Benjamin Schooley (age 40-50) lived in Newton Twp, Sussex County, New Jersey in a household with one female (age 40-50). Joseph Schooley (age 70-80) lived adjacent in a household with one male (age 5-10), three females (age 20-30) and one female (age 60-70). [5]

1840 Joseph and Benj(in?) Schooley were jointly listed at one household in Stillwater, Sussex County, New Jersey in a household with Males: one (age 15-20, perhaps Evi), one (50-60, perhaps Benjamin), one (age 80-90, perhaps Joseph) and Females one (age 30-40), one (age 40-50), and one (age 60-70). Aaron Schooley was listed adjacent. [6]

1846 Joseph Schooley died on June 6, at age 86, in New Jersey. He had lived at Stillwater, Sussex County. [7] [8]

1846 The inventory for Joseph Schooley was made on June 20, by John Huff and Joel Ingersoll in Sussex County, New Jersey. On 22 June, Aaron C. Schooley, administrator attested to the inventory. [9]

Aaron Schooley; son of Joseph Schooley, one of the first settlers of Sussex County; married Permelia Howell. [10]
