Research Notes:

We show Abia Brown, son of William Brown, as the spouse of Margaret Monroe. Some sources suggest that Abia Brown, son of Preserve Brown, was the spouse of Margaret Monroe. [6] [7]:

Preserve Brown Jr.'s son Abiah married Margaret Monroe, cousin of President James Monroe, and his daughter Hannah married William de la Montaigne, her bridesmaids being Mrs. Dundas, and Dolly Payne, afterwards wife of President James Madison.

Abia Brown, son of Preserve Brown, married Margaret Munro.

We show Abia Brown, son of Preserve Brown, as the spouse of Margaret Sharp, based on his birth date and marriage date:

1743 On 28 of month 9, Abiah Brown, son of Preserve Brown Jr and Mary (nee French) Brown, was born. [8] [9]

1765 Abia Brown of Burlington and Margaret Sharp of Salem were married on March 12. [10] [11]

Abiah Brown, son of William must have been born after 1760.
