We are researching the unknown parents of Nancy Cochran [1], wife of Isaiah Pickett.

1829 Bond was posted on June 22 in Rutherford County for the marriage of William Cohran and Jane Allen. Bond was posted by Robert G. Twitty. T.F. Birchett was a witness. [2] Witnessed by T.F. Birchett, D.C. Dated June 22. [3] [4] [5]

1840 Wm Cochran lived in Rutherford County, North Carolina in a household with males: 1 (5 thru 9), 2 (10 thru 14), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 2 (under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (10 thru 14), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (30 thru 39). [6] The ages of the children agree with the 1850 census.

1850 W K Cochran (age 47, born in North Carolina) lived in Camp Creek, Rutherford County, North Carolina, in a household with Janes Cochran (age 40, female), Almira Cochran (age 21), Alexander Cochran (age 19), William Cochran (age 17), Jane Cochran (age 15), Martha Cochran (age 13), James Cochran (age 10), Nancy Cochran (age 8), De Witt Cochran (age 4), and Sarrah Cochran (age 1). [7] [8]

1860 William Cochrane (age 68, born in North Carolina) lived in Whiteside Settlement, Rutherford County, North Carolina, in a household with Jane Cochrane (age 46), Lettie Cochrane (age 30), Mary Cochrane (age 25), Martha Cochrane (age 23), Jarnes Cochrane (age 20), Nancy Cochrane (age 16), Benjamin Cochrane (age 14), and Sarah Cochrane (age 10). William Cochrane's occupation was farmer. William had been "convicted for selling of spirits". [9]

1869 Accounts of J. P. Allen, guardian of Sarah Cochran and D Cochran, were recorded in Rutherford County. [10]

1868-1871 The settlement of the estate of W. K. Cochran was recorded in Rutherford County, North Carolina. [11] [12] [13] Distributions were made as follows:

M.M., M.J., J.L. (her mark witnessed by N.L.), and Jane T Cochran (her mark, witnessed by J.P. Allen) acknowledged receipt of payment (among the above)
R. G. Twitty agent for Wm Cochran
The accounts involve W. L. Twitty, administrator for R. G. Twitty and also J. P Allen, administrator for Wm. Cochran.
1862 William K Cochran, deceased, was on Cain Creek. His estate included 9 negroes (R.G. Twitty, administrator).

1873 J. P. Allen, administrator, filed more accounts for the estate of W.K. Cochran. [14]

There was another William Cochran in Rutherford County at about the same time:

1830 William Cockran lived in Rutherford County, North Carolina in a household with males: 1 (20 thru 29); and females: 1 (under 5) and 1 (20 thru 29). [15]

1840 Wm Cochran lived in Rutherford County, North Carolina in a household with males: 1 (under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 2 (under 5), 1 (10 thru 14), and 1 (30 thru 39). [16] The children agree with the 1830 census.
