Minn
Common Snapping Turtle
Chelydra serpentina
Minn is a female common snapping turtle. She
was found on Stone School Road in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on September 12th,
1994 as a hatchling.
She currently weighs approximately 7.25 lbs and has a shell over seven inches long.
She's named after the main character in Holling Clancy Holling's Minn
of the Mississippi. It's a very well written children's story
with illustrations
in the margins about the life of a snapping turtle as she makes her
way down the Mississippi: non-anthropomorphized and in the third person.
