Spectral longwave radiative kernel
Brief Description: This is a set of radiative kernel that can be used with monthly-mean fields (such as those from CMIP5 archives) to derive spectrally resolved longwave radiative feedbacks.

Here is a slide show (link) explaining why we need to study climate through a spectral lens.

Download Data:

Spectral radiative kernels for atmospheric temperature (Link , 1.5GB in total)

Spectral radiative kernels for atmospheric water vapor (Link, 1.5GB in total)

Spectral radiative kernels for surface temperature (Link , 19MB in total

Data format: Each tarball file above contains 24 files, which are all-sky radiative kernels for each calendar month and clear-sky radiative kernels for each calendar month. The data is in netcdf format. The spatial resolution is 2-degree by 2.5-degree and the spectral bands are the same as 16 spectral bands used in the RRTMG_LW.

Two sample Matlab codes to read in such netcdf files are available (Sample1 Sample2)
