Can you roughly estimate the size of a highly-porous track in apatite using the distance relation between the diffraction spots from the {1000} spacings (0.81 nm) and the Airy pattern from the track along the [0001] direction?

Introduction

I moved to Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences in October 2015 after I received an award for China's 1000-Talents Plan Youth Program. I study Radiation Effects in Materials, especially Radiation Damage for Thermochronology.

I was a research staff in the Department of Geological Sciences at Stanford University from 2014-2015, and a research fellow in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan from 2010 to 2014.

The entire lengths and thermal annealing of latent fission tracks in apatite have been observed for the first time through a novel microtome cutting method. This work will appear in EPSL soon (2012)

Bart Hendriks of Geological Survey of Norway wrote an article, "New insights into the formation and annealing behavior of latent fission tracks", to introduce our study to the track dating community.
