Protected resources such as Conferencing on the Web (COW), the
Computer Showcase online order form, U-M Online Directory, and similar
sites require your UMICH.EDU Kerberos password. This is the same
password one would use to access UMCE services such as the ITCS Login
Service, IMAP e-mail, IFS, Merit Dial-up, and computers in campus
computing sites.
You should not give any person your Kerberos password (not even to IT
support personnel), and no one can tell you what your current Kerberos
password is. You can, however, have your Kerbereros password reset at
the following locations:
- Ann Arbor - ITCS Accounts Office in the basement of the Michigan Union (734-764-8000)
- Ann Arbor - CAEN Hotline offices in the Media Union
- Ann Arbor - Learning Resource Center, room 3950 Taubman Medical Library
- Flint - ITS at 207 Murchie Science (810-762-3123)
- Dearborn - ITS Accounts Office (313-593-3274)
It is in your best interest to keep your password secret. As it
protects your digital identity and reputation. For more information on
password safety, please read the ITCS FAQ about Uniqnames and
Passwords here:
http://www.itd.umich.edu/help/faq/uniqnames/
Please note:
People associated with the following divisions often have separate
passwords assigned by their division in addition to their Kerberos
password, so it may be confusing as to which password you need to use:
- Medical Center
- College of Engineering
- UofM Dearborn Campus
- UofM Flint Campus
This is not an exhaustive list of divisions that have extra passwords
- if you use any sort of internal network or email system (ie
GroupWise at the Medical Center, the LSA NT domain, the UNIX
environment at the College of Engineering, etc), the password you use
for your daily work probably is not (and should not be) the same as
your Kerberos password.
